Center for By-Products Utilization SUPERPLASTICIZES STRUCTUREAL CONCRETE CONTAINING HIGH VOLUMES OF CLASS C FLY ASH

چکیده
This research is conducted with a view to investigate performance of concrete containing high volumes of ASTM Class C fly ash. A portland cement concrete, proportioned to have 28-day compressive strength of 6,000 psi (41 N4Pa) is used in this study. Concrete mixes are also proportioned to have various levels of cement replacement by fly ash ranging from 40% to 70% by weight. Concrete performance is evaluated with respect to compressive strength tensile strength and modulus of elasticity. At a 28-day age, concrete containing fly ash consistently shows higher compressive strength compared to the no-fly ash concrete. Analysis of results shows that ASTM Class C fly ash could be substituted for cement replacements up to 70% to achieve design compressive strength levels greater than 6,000 psi (41 MPa).

A research program was carried out to evaluate the chloride ion permeability of both air and non-air entrained concretes made with mineral admixtures as partial replacements of cement. Two series of investigations (Series 1 and Series 2) were carried out. The mixtures were proportioned to have 28-day strengths of 35 MPa for Series 1 and 69 MPa for Series 2. Chloride ion permeability was determi...

In this study, the elevated temperature flexural strengths of lightweight foamed concrete (LFC) containing fly ash (FA) and polypropylene fiber (PF) was investigated experimentally and statistically. The variables included were the temperature degrees (in a range of 20 to 600°C), LFC densities of 600, 800, 1000, 1200 and 1400 kg/m3 and additive content. Two mixes were made by replacing 15% and ...

This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of blended ash mixture on mechanical properties of concrete. In this study two reference mixtures were used. One of the mixtures was a no-fly ash mixture, and the other mixture contained 35% unblended Class C fly ash. Additional mixtures were composed of three blends of Class C and Class F fly ash while maintaining a total fly ash content of 40...
