چکیده

Introduction The aim of this work was analysis of the stabilisation influence on intradiscal pressure. The investigations were focused on the cervical region of spine, because this is a very common site for injury. It is caused of relatively big range and significant frequency of movements. Some of diseases need the application of the spinal fixator which changed the pressure of the adjacent region. Pressure within intervertebral discs is often analysed in single lumbar movement segment [1], rarely it is investigated in longer part of spine particularly in cervical spine [2],[4]. There is not much experiment which shows influence of the stabilisation on intradiscal pressure. In this work was investigated the changes of pressure within cadaveric nucleus pulposus of cervical intervertebral disc. The tests were made on intact and stabilised spines.

Effect of cervical collars on intracranial pressure in patients with head neurotrauma

Trauma patients are at high risk of cervical and associated injuries. The standard protocol includes immobilization of the cervical spine in a polytrauma as it will help to prevent spinal injuries in the prehospital settings. Hard cervical collar (or alternatives) is routinely used until the cervical spine clearance is obtained . In patients with traumatic brain injury avoiding any kind of mane...

Intradiscal pressure monitoring in the cervical spine.

BACKGROUND Discography has been widely used in the lumbar and cervical spine as a diagnostic tool to identify sources of discogenic pain that may be amenable to surgical treatment. Discography in the cervical spine is currently performed without the benefit of pressure monitoring, and corresponding pressure parameters have not been determined. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to develo...

Estimation of spinal loads using a detailed finite element model of the L4-L5 lumbar segment derived by medical imaging kinematics; a feasibility study

Introduction: Low back pain is the most prevalent orthopedic disorder and the first main cause of poor working functionality in developed as wells as many developing countries. In Absence of noninvasive in vivo measurement approaches, biomechanical models are used to estimate mechanical loads on human joints during physical activities. To estimate joint loads via musculoskelet...

Biomechanical analysis of the lumbar spine on facet joint force and intradiscal pressure - a finite element study

BACKGROUND Finite element analysis results will show significant differences if the model used is performed under various material properties, geometries, loading modes or other conditions. This study adopted an FE model, taking into account the possible asymmetry inherently existing in the spine with respect to the sagittal plane, with a more geometrically realistic outline to analyze and comp...

Biomechanical Determination of Distal Level for Fusions across the Cervicothoracic Junction

Study Design In vitro testing. Objective To determine whether long cervical and cervicothoracic fusions increase the intradiscal pressure at the adjacent caudal disk and to determine which thoracic end vertebra causes the least increase in the adjacent-level intradiscal pressure. Methods A bending moment was applied to six cadaveric cervicothoracic spine specimens with intact rib cages. Intradi...
