چکیده
The conditions under which microbiologists, emergency responders, and other individuals are working with pathogens vary greatly. Best practices and PPE used to reduce risk to an acceptable level are determined by conducting a thorough risk assessment. Evaluation of a Virucidal Quantitative Carrier Test for Surface Disinfectants
Surface disinfectants are part of broader preventive strategies preventing the transmission of bacteria, fungi and viruses in medical institutions. To evaluate their virucidal efficacy, these products must be tested with appropriate model viruses with different physico-chemical properties under conditions representing practical application in hospitals. The aim of this study was to evaluate a q...
متن کاملPovidone-iodine hand wash and hand rub products demonstrated excellent in vitro virucidal efficacy against Ebola virus and modified vaccinia virus Ankara, the new European test virus for enveloped viruses
BACKGROUND The recent Ebola virus (EBOV) epidemic highlights the need for efficacious virucidal products to help prevent infection and limit the spread of Ebola virus disease. However, there is limited data on the efficacy of virucidal products against EBOV, because the virus has a high biosafety level and is only available in a few laboratories worldwide. The virucidal efficacy of antiseptics ...
متن کاملSurface-Dried Viruses Can Resist Glucoprotamin-Based Disinfection.
Touching of contaminated objects and surfaces is a well-known method of virus transmission. Once they are attached to the hands, viruses can easily get adsorbed and initiate infection. Hence, disinfection of frequently touched surfaces is of major importance to prevent virus spreading. Here we studied the antiviral activity of a glucoprotamin-containing disinfectant against influenza A virus an...
متن کاملDevelopment and virucidal activity of a novel alcohol-based hand disinfectant supplemented with urea and citric acid.
BACKGROUND Hand disinfectants are important for the prevention of virus transmission in the health care system and environment. The development of broad antiviral spectrum hand disinfectants with activity against enveloped and non-enveloped viruses is limited due to a small number of permissible active ingredients able to inactivate viruses. METHODS A new hand disinfectant was developed based...
متن کاملDoes limited virucidal activity of biocides include duck hepatitis B virucidal action?
BACKGROUND There is agreement that the infectivity assay with the duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) is a suitable surrogate test to validate disinfectants for hepatitis B virucidal activity. However, since this test is not widely used, information is necessary whether disinfectants with limited virucidal activity also inactivate DHBV. In general, disinfectants with limited virucidal activity are us...

However, since this test is not widely used, information is necessary whether disinfectants with limited virucidal activity also inactivate DHBV.
