چکیده

Complete surgical correction of transposition of the great arteries associated with subvalvular pulmonary stenosis carries a high mortality rate. A new surgical technique that achieves redirection of the ventricular outflows and relieves pulmonary stenosis by bypassing it, was successfully used to repair complete transposition of the great arteries associated with ventricular septal defect (VSD) and valvular and subvalvular pulmonary stenosis in a 142-year-old patient. The repair consists of (1) division of the pulmonary artery, the cardiac end of which is oversewn, (2) repair of the VSD with a patch in such a way as to connect the left ventricle with the aorta, and (3) reconstruction of the pulmonary artery with an aortic homograft, including the aortic valve, which is anastomosed between the distal end of the pulmonary artery and the right ventricle. A review of the cases in which the current techniques were used indicates that the location and nature of the obstruction in the left ventricular outflow tract defies successful repair in most instances. Localized ridges and diffuse hypoplastic outflow tracts are recognized causes of obstruction, but anomalies of the mitral valve commonly contribute to or are the primary cause of subvalvular obstruction.

A 33-day-old Infant with the Transposition of the Great Arteries; A Rare Case Report

Dextro-transposition of the great arteries (d-TGA) is the one most common cyanotic congenital heart disease in neonates. The discordant ventriculoarterial arrangement results in parallel circulation, it so is vital to understand the management. We report a rare interesting but critical case of 33-day-old boy who developed cyanosis and had transposition of great arteries combined with interrupte...

Aortic translocation, Senning procedure and right ventricular outflow tract augmentation for congenitally corrected transposition, ventricular septal defect and pulmonary stenosis.

The management of congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries and associated lesions is frequently challenging. Significant pulmonary stenosis is a contraindication to the conventional double-switch. Instead repair may be accomplished by the Rastelli-Senning procedure, using an extracardiac conduit to achieve continuity between the morphological left ventricle and the pulmonary a...

Association of Nasal Nostril Stenosis with Bilateral Choanal Atresia: A Case Report

Introduction: Neonatal nasal airway obstruction induces various degrees of respiratory distress. The management of this disease, including surgical repair, will depend on the severity and location of the obstruction. We describe here a case of congenital nasal nostril stenosis that required surgical repair for stenting of both nares after coanal atresia repair.   Case Report: A 2 days old femal...
