چکیده

We present stellar evolution calculations for Population III stars for both singleand binarystar evolutions. Our models include 10and 16.5-M single stars and a 10-M model star that undergoes an episode of accretion resulting in a final mass of 16.1 M . For comparison, we present the evolution of a solar heavy element abundance model. We use the structure from late-stage evolution models to calculate simulated supernova light curves. Light curve comparisons are made between accretion and non-accretion progenitor models, and models for single-star evolution of comparable masses. Where possible, we make comparisons to previous works. Similar investigations have been carried out, but primarily for solar or near-solar heavy metal abundance stars and not including both the evolution and the supernova explosions in one work.

Evolution of X-ray emission from young massive star clusters

The evolution of X-ray emission from young massive star clusters is modeled, taking into account the emission from the stars as well as from the cluster wind. It is shown that the level and character of the soft (0.2-10 keV) X-ray emission change drastically with cluster age and are tightly linked with stellar evolution. Using the modern X-ray observations of massive stars we show that the corr...

Runaway Velocities of Stellar Components Originating from Disrupted Binaries via Asymmetric Supernova Explosions

We present analytical formulae to calculate the dynamical effects of asymmetric supernova explosions which disrupt a binary system. These formulae are applied to Monte Carlo simulations of asymmetric supernovae in a large number of binaries. The expected velocities of runaway neutron stars and companion stars are calculated as a function of separation and component masses, prior to the explosio...

Resolving the Formation of Protogalaxies. Iii. Feedback from the First Stars

The first stars form in dark matter halos of masses ∼10M⊙ as suggested by an increasing number of numerical simulations. Radiation feedback from these stars expels most of the gas from their shallow potential well of their surrounding dark matter halos. We use cosmological adaptive mesh refinement simulations that include self-consistent Population III star formation and feedback to examine the...

The number of B-type binary mass gainers in general, binary Be stars in particular, predicted by close binary evolution

Compared to earlier studies on the subject, we use results of intermediate mass case B close binary evolution computed with updated data, to predict the population of B-type accretion stars for different regions of star formation, in the Galaxy and in the Magellanic Clouds. We will make a distinction between accretion stars with a (helium burning) subdwarf, respectively white dwarf and neutron ...

The number of O-type runaways, the number of O and Wolf-Rayet stars with a compact companion and the formation rate of double pulsars predicted by massive close binary evolution

Using a detailed model of massive close binary evolution and accounting properly for the effects of asymmetric supernova explosions (SN) where we use recent observations of pulsar runaway velocities, we determine the theoretically expected number of post-SN O-type stars with and without a compact companion (CC), the number of O-type runaways, the number of WR+CC systems and the formation rate o...
