Active Patterns for Self-Optimization
نویسنده
چکیده
Self-optimizing mechatronic systems react autonomously and flexibly to changing conditions. They are capable of learning and optimize their behavior throughout their life cycle. The paradigm of self-optimization is originally inspired by the behavior of biological systems. The key to the successful development of self-optimizing systems is a conceptual design process that precisely describes the desired system behavior. In the area of mechanical engineering, active principles based on physical effects such as friction or lever are widely used to concretize the construction structure and the behavior. The same approach can be found in the domain of softwareengineering with software patterns such as the broker-pattern or the strategy pattern. However there is no appropriate design schema for the development of intelligent mechatronic systems covering the needs to fulfill the paradigm of self-optimization. This article proposes such a schema called Active Patterns for Self-Optimization. It is shown how a catalogue of active patterns can be derived from a set of four basic active patterns. This design approach is validated for a networked mechatronic system in a multiagent setting where the behavior is implemented according to a biologically inspired technique – the neuro-fuzzy learning method.

Objective Sensory processing refers to reception, adjustment, and integration of sensory information sequentially and generates adaptive responses. People need to have appropriate sensory processing abilities for functioning adequately in the environment and be able to participate in activities of daily living. Dunn's sensory processing model consists of two constructions. The first constructio...
متن کاملSelf-Organization in a Particle Swarm Optimized Fuzzy Logic Congestion Detection Mechanism for IP Networks
The Fuzzy Logic Congestion Detection (FLCD) algorithm is a recent proposal for congestion detection in IP networks which combines the good characteristics of both traditional Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms and fuzzy logic based AQM algorithms. The Membership Functions (MFs) of the FLCD algorithm are designed using a Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) algorithm, in ord...
متن کاملFault Location in Active Distribution Networks Using Improved Whale Optimization Algorithm
To realize the self-healing concept of smart grids, an accurate and reliable fault locator is a prerequisite. This paper presents a new fault location method for active power distribution networks which is based on measured voltage sag and use of whale optimization algorithm (WOA). The fault induced voltage sag depends on the fault location and resistance. Therefore, the fault location can be f...
متن کاملA Design Methodology for Self-Optimizing Systems
Innovative self-optimizing systems which go far beyond current approaches for mechatronic products become possible when systems are enabled to optimize their own behavior at runtime. Such self-optimizing systems are characterized by their ability to endogenously modify their objectives in response to changing conditions and autonomously adapt their parameters and structure and as a result their...
