چکیده

We are interested in the applications of invariant theory to computer vision problems. A survey and clariication of the diierent invariant calculation methods are detailed in our extented technical report 1]. In this paper, we concentrate on 3D invariants from pairs of images instead of invariants related to the planar projective transformations from monocular image, that have been already largely studied by many people. Especially, invariants of diierent conngurations coming from diierent combinations of 3D points, 3D lines, and conics are under consideration, and the stabilities of the invariants computed diierently are compared. We conclude by showing to what extent these invariant measures can be used for recognition and indexing.

A Linear Method to Derive 3D Projective Invariants from 4 Uncalibrated Images

A well-known method proposed by Quan to compute projective invariants of 3D points uses six points in three 2D images. The method is nonlinear and complicated. It usually produces three possible solutions. It is noted previously that the problem can be solved directly and linearly using six points in five images. This paper presents a method to compute projective invariants of 3D points from fo...

λ-Projectively Related Finsler Metrics and Finslerian Projective Invariants

In this paper, by using the concept of spherically symmetric metric, we defne the notion of λ-projectively related metrics as an extension of projectively related metrics. We construct some non-trivial examples of λ-projectively related metrics. Let F and G be two λ-projectively related metrics on a manifold M. We find the relation between the geodesics of F and G and prove that any geodesic of...

3-D Reconstruction Based on Projective Invariants

We present a new projective invariant-based technique for recovering depth information from stereo images. The basic idea of our method is to use intensity segments as primitives for stereo matching. To recover the depth information of intensity segments, two projective invariants are introduced. From the two invariants, we can derive a relation that should be satisfied between the matching pai...

Projective Reconstruction and Invariants from Multiple Images

This paper investigates projective reconstruction of geometric configurations seen in two or more perspective views, and the computation of projective invariants of these configurations from their images. A basic tool in this investigation is the fundamental matrix which describes the epipolar correspondence between image pairs. It is proven that once the epipolar geometry is known, the configu...

The Dou8ble Algebra: An Effective Tool for Computing Invariants in Computer Vision

The double algebra is a system for computations involving subspaces of a general nite dimensional vector space. If this vector space is taken as projective 3-space, the operations of the double algebra can be interpreted as joins and intersections of points, lines and planes. All computations are coordinate free and invariant over linear transformations. The double algebra is therefore a very e...
