چکیده

This paper presents an immersive 3D modeling system that realizes a new method for creating and manipulating 3D objects using non-instrumented hand gestures. Our model representation is based on a mesh library, which is optimized not only for real-time rendering, but also accommodates for changes of both vertex positions and mesh connectivity in real time. For performing the gesture interaction, the user’s hand is marked with just four fingertipthimbles made of inexpensive material as simple as white paper. The recognized hand gestures are used to create, manipulate and deform the 3D meshes in a natural and intuitive way. With various modeling functions the modeler provides flexible modeling capabilities. The user’s viewpoints to see the modeling procedures are approximated by tracking a pair of marked polarized glasses. All modeling tasks are performed wirelessly through a camera/vision tracking method for the head and hand interaction.

Tangible 3D: Immersive 3D Modeling through Hand Gesture Interaction

Most of all interaction tasks relevant for a general three-dimensional virtual environment can be supported by 6DOF control and grab/select input. Obviously a very efficient method is direct manipulation with bare hands, like in real environment. This paper shows the possibility to perform non-trivial tasks using only a few wellknown hand gestures, so that almost no training is necessary to int...

Hand Gesture Recognition from RGB-D Data using 2D and 3D Convolutional Neural Networks: a comparative study

Despite considerable enhances in recognizing hand gestures from still images, there are still many challenges in the classification of hand gestures in videos. The latter comes with more challenges, including higher computational complexity and arduous task of representing temporal features. Hand movement dynamics, represented by temporal features, have to be extracted by analyzing the total fr...

Human Computer Interaction Using Vision-Based Hand Gesture Recognition

With the rapid emergence of 3D applications and virtual environments in computer systems; the need for a new type of interaction device arises. This is because the traditional devices such as mouse, keyboard, and joystick become inefficient and cumbersome within these virtual environments. In other words, evolution of user interfaces shapes the change in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In...
