Singlet oxygen generation from poly[4-diacetoxyiodo]styrene and hydrogen peroxide

چکیده
Treatment of hydrogen peroxide with a polymer-supported hypervalent iodine compound, poly[4-diacetoxyiodo] styrene (PDAIS), generates singlet molecular oxygen (O2) . Singlet oxygen generation was proved by trapping with typical organic compounds such as conjugated dienes, aromatic dienes, and electron-rich alkene. When compared to monomer analogue, the use of PDAIS in peroxidation of substrates gave slightly better yields (45%–96%). Regeneration and reuse of PDAIS showed similar activity. The mechanism underlying generation of singlet oxygen and reaction scope was examined.

ROLE OF Mn(TPP)Cl IN THE EPOXIDATION WITH SINGLET OXYGEN
Mn(TPP)Cl catalyzes cooxidation of olefin in the singlet oxygenation of sulfid. Mn(TPP)Cl is able to transfer an oxygen atom from a peroxidic intermediate generated in singlet oxygenation of sulfide to a metal ion affording metal 0x0 species which is responsible for epoxidation. This system leads to allcenes epoxidation such as styrene and cyclooctene. Epoxidation of cyclohexene produces cy...
متن کاملCytotoxic activity of human monocytes towards sensitized red cells is not dependent on the generation of reactive oxygen species.
The purpose of this investigation was to test whether the generation of oxygen radicals is required for the cytotoxic activity of human monocytes. The cytotoxic activity of human monocytes was measured as the capacity to lyse, in vitro, human red cells sensitized with noncomplement-binding lgG anti-D alloantibodies. Lysis was determined by measuring 51Cr release from the red cells. Studies were...
متن کاملEndogenous Generation of Singlet Oxygen and Ozone in Human and Animal Tissues: Mechanisms, Biological Significance, and Influence of Dietary Components
Recent studies have shown that exposing antibodies or amino acids to singlet oxygen results in the formation of ozone (or an ozone-like oxidant) and hydrogen peroxide and that human neutrophils produce both singlet oxygen and ozone during bacterial killing. There is also mounting evidence that endogenous singlet oxygen production may be a common occurrence in cells through various mechanisms. T...

According to Khan et al. [Khan, A. U., Kovacic, D., Kolbanovskiy, A., Desai, M., Frenkel, K. & Geacintov, N. E. (2000) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 97, 2984–2989], peroxynitrite (ONOO2) decomposes after protonation to singlet oxygen (DgO2) and singlet oxonitrate (nitroxyl, 1NO2) in high yield. They claimed to have observed nitrosyl hemoglobin from the reaction of NO2 with methemoglobin; however, ...
متن کاملSuperoxide, hydrogen peroxide and singlet oxygen in hematoporphyrin derivative-cysteine, -NADH and -light systems.
Hematoporphyrin derivative and light in the presence of cysteine or glutathione were found to convert oxygen to superoxide and hydrogen peroxide at pH less than approx. 6.5, while at pH greater than 6.5 no superoxide or hydrogen peroxide production was observed. However, at pH values greater than 6.5 the rate of oxygen consumption increased. This rate paralleled the acid dissociation curve of t...
