چکیده

Experimental: Chemicals and Materials: The Pt black (~10 nm, ~20 m/g) was purchased from JohnsonMatthey. HClO4 (70%, Cl < 0.1 101 ppm, GFS chemicals), MeOH (>99.8%, Sigma-Alorich, A.C.S. Reagent) and High-Pure Milli-Q H2O (18.2 MΩ, TOC<2ppb) were used to make the solutions. Ultrapure Ar (GTS•Welco, 99.999%, THC<0.5ppm) and O2 gas (GTS•Welco, 99.993%, THC<1ppm) were used as-received to make anaerobic pristine, MeOH-containing, or O2-saturated electrolyte solutions.

The importance of nickel oxyhydroxide deprotonation on its activity towards electrochemical water oxidation.

Nickel oxyhydroxide (NiOOH) is extensively used for energy storage and it is a very promising catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, the processes occurring on the NiOOH surface during charge accumulation and OER are not well understood. This work presents an in situ Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) study of the pH dependent interfacial changes of the NiOOH catalys...

Comparison of alcohol and alkane oxidative dehydrogenation reactions over supported vanadium oxide catalysts: in situ infrared, Raman and UV–vis spectroscopic studies of surface alkoxide intermediates and of their surface chemistry

The surface chemistry of adsorbed isopropoxy groups on supported vanadia–alumina and vanadia–silica catalysts was investigated with multiple in situ spectroscopic techniques. The in situ FT-IR, Raman and UV–vis spectroscopic measurements provided molecular level information about the surface intermediates and the surface vanadium oxide species as a function of different conditions. The spectros...

Sequential electrochemical unzipping of single-walled carbon nanotubes to graphene ribbons revealed by in situ Raman spectroscopy and imaging.

We report an in situ Raman spectroscopic and microscopic investigation of the electrochemical unzipping of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). Observations of the radial breathing modes (RBMs) using Raman spectral mapping reveal that metallic SWNTs are opened up rapidly followed by gradual unzipping of semiconducting SWNTs. Consideration of the resonant Raman scattering theory suggests that...

Elucidating molecular electrochemistry with nearfield Raman spectroscopy

One crucial parameter that determines surface reactivity or device functionality in a large variety of applications, such as heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemical energy conversion schemes, biotechnology or molecular electronics, is the adsorption geometry of the (re)active molecules. Accessing adsorbate orientation in relation to specific surface sites in situ or in operando is a first cruc...

An In situ Spectroscopic Study of Raman Electrochemical Processes in Mercury–Solution Interphases

Electrochemical processes in the mercury–solution interphase were probed by in situ spectroelectrochemical microRaman spectroscopy. This is the Ðrst report of the in situ characterization of electrochemical processes for a pure mercury electrode by Raman spectroscopy. Mercury was oxidized in 0.1 M solution, in the presence and KClO 4 absence of pyridine. Raman spectra, at several applied potent...
