چکیده

Experimental investigations were conducted to assess the influence of Abrasive Water Jet Machining (AWJM) process parameters on surface roughness (Ra) and kerf taper ratio (TR) of aramid fibre reinforced plastics (AFRP) composite. The approach was based on Taguchi’s Method and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to optimize the AWJM process parameters for effective machining. It was found that traverse rate was considered to be the most significant factor followed by hydraulic pressure in influencing the Ra quality criteria. In case of TR, traverse rate showed the greatest influence by standoff distance. The recommended optimal parametric combination for improved Ra and TR performance are A3B2C3D1 and A3B3C3D1 respectively. It was also confirmed that increasing the kinetic energy of water jet may produce a better quality of cuts. It was confirmed that determined optimal combination of AWJM parameters satisfy the real need for machining of AFRP composites in practice.

Optimization of Abrasive Waterjet Machining Process Parameters Using Orthogonal Array with Grey Relational Analysis

In the present work, the optimization of the abrasive water jet machining (AWJM) process parameters with multiple performance characteristics based on the orthogonal array with the grey relational analysis (GRA) has been studied. Optimization of multiple response characteristics is far more complex compared to optimization of single performance characteristic. A grey relational grade (GRG) calc...

مدل‌سازی اجزای محدود برش ماده فولادی با جت آب دارای ذرات برنده

Numerical modeling of machining processes is of significance in the parametric analysis and optimization of their performance. In this paper, a finite element-based model of abrasive waterjet (AWJ) cutting of a ductile material is presented with the help of an explicit, nonlinear finite element method. In this model, both solid-solid interaction and fluid-structure interaction are considered. T...
