Top Management Teams and Firm Internationalization: an Investigation of Japanese Firms

Lohrke and Burton (Lohrke & Burton, 1997), in their review of leading international business and strategic management journals, noted that studies of top management teams (TMTs) have been quite rare in the international strategic management literature. Following the upper echelons perspective (Hambrick & Mason, 1984), recent work has attempted to bridge this gap by studying TMTs in the context of internationalization. The current paper extends this emerging stream of research in several ways.
