Antipeptic activity of antacids.

چکیده
An in vitro experiment based on the digestion of haemoglobin with pepsin was carried out to test the claim made by some manufacturers that the antacids used in their proprietary preparations had an intrinsic antipeptic activity independent of the change brought about by alteration of pH. In no case could these claims be substantiated.

In Vitro Evaluation of Some Ayurvedic Antacids
The ayurvedic proprietary antacid preparations available in the Indian market were analysed for their antacid activity and compared with allopathic antacid preparations. This study urges the need for standardization of antacid products with in vitro parameters.
متن کاملEffect of antacids on the dissolution behaviour of methacycline and doxycycline.
The effect of antacids on the dissolution behaviour of methacycline and doxycycline capsules from commercial dosage forms were studied. The dissolution of both tetracyclines was found to be markedly retarded by antacids such as magnesium trisilicate and magnesium oxide. An attempt was made to elucidate the mechanism of this effect. The results suggest that the effect of antacids on the dissolut...
متن کاملInhibition of peptic activity by carbenoxolone and glycyrrhetinic acid.
Carbenoxolone (Biogastrone, Berk) has been shown to reduce the peptic activity and total acidity of gastric juice obtained from anaesthetized pylorus-ligated rats without affecting significantly the volume of gastric juice secreted or the K(+) concentration. Glycyrrhetinic acid was less potent in reducing peptic activity and caused no reduction in total acidity. Antipeptic activity of carbenoxo...
