Effects of Cr, Cd, and Pb on Ultrastructure, GSH and Free Cysteine in Typha angustifolia

چکیده
Pot experiments were conducted to study the potential of T. angustifolia plants for Cr, Cd and Pb toxicity on the ultrastructure, Reduced Glutathione (GSH) and Free Cysteine on T. angustifolia (Narrow Cattail) after 30 d exposure of 1 mM Cr, Cd or Pb. Cr, Cd and Pb toxicity stress distort the ultrastructure and the treated seedlings showed that the vacuoles were expanded and endoplasmic membrane appeared to be rough. The levels of chloroplast in the plant cell were visible and prominent, yet the heavy metal stress caused an imbalance. The levels of free cysteine and GSH in shoots were significantly decreased in content especially in Cr-treatment and Cd-treatment, except for Pb which showed marked increase of free cysteine compared to the control. Meanwhile, no PCs were detected in the shoots of T. angustifolia exposed to Cr, Cd and Pb-treatments during analysis. *Corresponding author: Bah Alieu Mohamed, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Huajiachi Campus, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310029, People’s Republic of China, Tel: +86-571-87952276; Fax: +86571-87952331; E-mail: [email protected] Received September 09, 2015; Accepted October 17, 2015; Published October 20, 2015 Citation: Mohamed BA, Huaxin D (2015) Effects of Cr, Cd, and Pb on Ultrastructure, GSH and Free Cysteine in Typha angustifolia. Evaluation of phytostabilization, a green technology to remove heavy metals from industrial sludge using Typha latifolia L
The effect of the glass industry on heavy metal characterization was assessed in the sludge/sediments of 5 discharge pits (sites) for effluents of functional glass factories and/or finishing workshops in the study area. A comprehensive profile of Zn, Mn, Co, Cd, Pb, Cr, Ni,Cu and As levels in industrial sludge was obtained. Correlation coefficients for metal pairs indicate varying levels (posit...

Background & Objective: The road traffic has become one of the main sources of metal pollution and could affect roadside soils. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess the pollution and toxicity potential of Pb, Cd, Cr and Ni in surface soils along some roads of city of Hamedan in 2019. Materials & Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, a total of 63 surface soil samples were...
متن کاملEffects of some sulfur-containing antioxidants on lead-exposed lenses.
Lead (Pb) is known to negatively affect glutathione (GSH) metabolism in the lens. The present study examined the effects of Captopril, Taurine, and alpha-Lipoic acid on the Pb-induced GSH depletion and lipid peroxide increase in the lenticular system. Captopril administration returned the GSH, cysteine (CYS), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels to near normal. Following Taurine administration the ...
