چکیده
Staphylococcus xylosus was recovered from the urine of a patient with pyelonephritis. Antibodies against the teichoic acid of the microorganism were demonstrated in the patient's serum by the agar gel diffusion technique.

Development of Epidural and Paraspinal Abscesses after Insufficient Evaluation and Treatment of Acute Pyelonephritis Caused by Staphylococcus aureus
Diagnoses of pyelonephritis caused by Staphylococcus aureus should be accompanied by investigations of concomitant bladder obstruction and metastatic infections, especially to the spine or heart. Complicated pyelonephritis due to S. aureus requires more than 2 weeks of antibiotics, which is the typically recommended treatment duration for pyelonephritis. We describe a patient who was diagnosed ...
متن کاملDominant Polycystic Kidney Disease with Acute Pyelonephritis due to Multi-drug Resistant Staphylococcus D Group and Candida albicans
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a common hereditary kidney disease caused due to a mutation in PKD1 gene and the PKD2 gene located at chromosome level 16 and chromosome 4. ADPKD often leads to progressive kidney (renal) failure, primarily due to continued enlargement of the cysts and replacement of normal kidney tissue. The present case is of a 70-year-old male diabetic ...
متن کاملTranscriptomic analysis of Staphylococcus xylosus in the presence of nitrate and nitrite in meat reveals its response to nitrosative stress
Staphylococcus xylosus is one of the major starter cultures used for meat fermentation because of its crucial role in the reduction of nitrate to nitrite which contributes to color and flavor development. Despite longstanding use of these additives, their impact on the physiology of S. xylosus has not yet been explored. We present the first in situ global gene expression profile of S. xylosus i...
متن کاملCarbon catabolite repression by the catabolite control protein CcpA in Staphylococcus xylosus.
Carbon catabolic repression (CR) by the catabolite control protein CcpA has been analyzed in Staphylococcus xylosus. Genes encoding components needed to utilize lactose, sucrose, and maltose were found to be repressed by CcpA. In addition, the ccpA gene is under negative autogenous control. Among several tested sugars, glucose caused strongest CcpA-dependent repression. Glucose can enter S. xyl...
متن کاملCommunity-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis pyelonephritis in a child: a case report
INTRODUCTION Staphylococcus epidermidis is currently the most frequent pathogen of opportunistic and nosocomial infections worldwide. Most cases of Staphylococcus epidermidis infections are associated with indwelling medical devices and/or immunocompromised conditions. Community-acquired urinary tract infections are rare, particularly among pediatric populations, and clinicians often do not con...
