چکیده

Experiments on charm hadroproduction have shown a substantial difference in the production of charm and anticharm hadrons. In this work we study Λ+ c and Λ c inclusive production in p−N interactions in the framework of two component models. We show that the recombination two component model gives a qualitatively and quantitatively good description of Λ c production while the intrinsic charm model seems to be ruled out by recent experimental data from the SELEX Collaboration. It is well known from experiments that there is a substantial difference in the production of charm and anticharm hadrons in hadron-hadron interactions. Leading (L) particles, which share one or more valence quarks with the initial hadrons, are favored in the incident hadron direction over NonLeading (NL) particles, which share none. This effect, known as Leading Particle Effect, has been observed in inclusive production of charm mesons and baryons in π −N , p−N , K − N and Σ −N interactions by several experiments [1, 2, 3] . Leading particle effects can be quantified by means of a production asymmetry, which is defined as A ≡ dσ L − dσ dσL + dσNL . (1) ∗[email protected]

Phenomenology of Transverse Single Spin Asymmetries in Inclusive Processes *

A phenomenological description of single transverse spin asymmetries for the inclusive production of hadrons in p− p and l− p processes is discussed within pQCD and a straightforward generalization of the factorization theorem with the inclusion of parton intrinsic transverse motion. Fits to existing data, predictions for new processes and interpretation of recent results are presented. QCD for...

-nucleon Interactions Representing the Fermilab E791 Collaboration

We present the Fermilab E791 measurement of baryon-antibaryon asymmetries in the production of Λ • , Ξ, Ω and Λc in 500 GeV/c π −-nucleon. Asymmetries have been measured as a function of xF and p 2 T over the range −0.12 < xF < 0.12 and p 2 T < 4 (GeV/c) 2 for hyperons and −0.1 < xF < 0.3 and p 2 T < 8 (GeV/c) 2 for the Λc baryons. We observe clear evidence of leading particle effects and a bas...

Asymmetry studies in Λ 0 / Λ̄ 0 , Ξ − / Ξ + and Ω − / Ω + production

We present a study on hyperon/anti-hyperon production asymmetries in the framework of the recombination model. The production asymmetries for Λ/Λ̄, Ξ/Ξ and Ω/Ω are studied as a function of xF . Predictions of the model are compared to preliminary data on hyperon/anti-hyperon production asymmetries in 500 GeV/c π−p interactions from the Fermilab E791 experiment. The model predicts a growing asymm...

Fermilab experiment E791, measuring charmed hadron production in π − A interactions at 500 GeV with high statistics, has observed a strong asymmetry between the hadroproduction cross sections for leading D mesons which contain projectile valence quarks and the nonleading charmed mesons without projectile valence quarks. Such correlations of the charge of the D meson with the quantum numbers of ...

A ug 2 00 6 STAR results on longitudinal spin dynamics

We present preliminary results on the double longitudinal spin asymmetries A LL in inclusive jet production and the longitudinal spin transfer asymmetries D LL in inclusive Λ and ¯ Λ hyperon production. The data amount to 0.5 pb −1 collected at RHIC in 2003 and 2004 with beam polarizations up to 45%. The jet A LL asymmetries, measured over 5 < p T < 17 GeV/c, are consistent with evaluations bas...
