Cerebral thrombophlebitis and fibrinogen B.

چکیده
Thrombophlebitis of the superficial cerebral veins and the dural venous sinuses is now a well-recognized complication of infective processes, not only about the head and neck but elsewhere in the body (Symonds, 1931, 1937, 1940; Purdon Martin and Sheehan, 1941; Purdon Martin, 1941). Most. observers, however, have realized the difficulty in establishing the final pathological diagnosis, particularly in the early stages where the patient may present with high bilateral papilleedema and no abnormal physical signs, or with some evidence of increased intracranial pressure and paretic or. convulsive phenomena. It is always important in those cases in which visual acuity is deteriorating rapidly as the result of papillcedema to exclude a space-occupying lesion within the skull, as it is not otherwise safe to embark upon a course of repeated spinal drainage in order to save a patient's vision. The diagnostic difficulties are well illustrated in the following case:

Changes in Blood Viscosity , Hematocrit Value , and Fibrinogen Concentration in Subjects with Congestive Heart Failure
THE increased incidence of thrombo-occlusive complications in subjects with congestive heart failure is clearly recognized. Thus, pulmonary, cerebral, and myocardial infarction, thrombophlebitis, and mesenteric thrombosis are sufficiently frequent complications to compel some to include anticoagulant therapy in the routine management of cardiac decompensation. The fundamental cause of this tend...

متن کاملIdiopathic recurrent superficial thrombophlebitis: treatment with fibrinolytic enhancement.
Sixteen patients with idiopathic recurrent superficial thrombophlebitis were shown to have a defect of blood and tissue fibrinolytic activity. After six months' treatment with stanozolol their mean dilute blood clot lysis time and plasma fibrinogen fell significantly and the mean fibrin plate lysis area increased. Attacks of thrombophlebitis stopped completely in 13 patients, though five patien...
متن کاملThrombophlebitis migrans including Mondors syndrome and autoimmune hemolytic anemia in ulcerative colitis ; case report and review of the literature
Thromboembolic events occur in UC and Crohns disease. Activation of clotting factors and thrombocytosis are common. In ulcerative colitis, increased levels of factor V, factor VIII and fibrinogen and decreased levels of antithrombin III have been demonstrated. Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary emboli affect patients with severe disease and may occur after colectomy. Thromboembolic events in t...

In an epileptic patient with malacia from intracerebral hemorrhage in left parietal and occipital lobes due to thrombasthenia, TP occurred following treatment of antiepileptic drug CBZ. Based on the dynamic changes of clinical manifestation and dosage of CBZ, in combination with the test results of D-Dimer, fibrinogen, prothrombin degradation products, and other laboratory tests, especially of ...
