A Lattice Determination of Light Quark Masses
نویسندگان
چکیده
A fully non-perturbative lattice determination of the up/down and strange quark masses is given for quenched QCD using both, O(a) improved Wilson fermions and ordinary Wilson fermions. For the strange quark mass with O(a) improved fermions we obtain m s (μ = 2GeV) = 105(4)MeV, using the interquark force scale r0. Due to quenching problems fits are only possible for quark masses larger than the strange quark mass. If we extrapolate our fits to the up/down quark mass we find for the average mass m l (μ = 2GeV) = 4.4(2)MeV.

Light quark masses
Low energy precision experiments provide significant tests of the laws of nature that can reveal physics beyond the Standard Model. A good theoretical understanding of the low energy properties of QCD is required for this purpose. The recent developments at the interface between lattice and effective field theory methods provide an excellent basis for pion physics already now, while the extensi...
متن کاملQuark Masses on the Lattice: Light and Heavy
I review the current status of lattice calculations of light and heavy quark masses. Significant progresses, in these studies, have been allowed by the introduction of improved actions and non-perturbative renormalization techniques. Current determinations of light quark masses are accurate at the level of 20%, where the main source of uncertainty is represented by the quenching error. The dete...
متن کاملLight quark masses and CKM matrix elements from lattice QCD
I give a brief overview of recent results from lattice QCD calculations which are relevant for the phenomenology of the Standard Model. I discuss, in particular, the lattice determination of light quark masses and the calculation of those hadronic quantities, such as semileptonic form factors, decay constants and B-parameters, which are of particular interest for the analysis of the CKM mixing ...
متن کاملNon-perturbatively Renormalized Light Quark Masses with Two Dynamical Fermions
We present the results of a partially quenched lattice QCD calculation of light quark masses with N f = 2 degenerate dynamical flavors. Numerical simulations are carried out using the plaquette gauge action and the Wilson quark action at β = 5.8 (a−1 ≃ 3.2GeV). The spatial extension of the 243 × 48 lattice is about 1.5 fm. Configurations have been generated at four values of the sea quark masse...
متن کاملScaling studies of QCD with the dynamical HISQ action
We study the lattice spacing dependence, or scaling, of physical quantities using the highly improved staggered quark (HISQ) action introduced by the HPQCD/UKQCD collaboration, comparing our results to similar simulations with the asqtad fermion action. Results are based on calculations with lattice spacings approximately 0.15, 0.12 and 0.09 fm, using four flavors of dynamical HISQ quarks. The ...
