THE PAPER CHROMATOGRAPHTC SEPARATION AND QUALITATIVE IDENTIFICATION OF MIXTURES OF Cl903 STEROIDS*t

چکیده

The biochemical significance of steroid metabolites containing 19 carbons and 3 oxygens has been recently recognized. Compounds of this type are found in the urine of both normal persons and patients with metabolic disorders (1, 2). Their excretion seems to be related to adrenocortical function, since increased amounts of these compounds are observed after the administration of cortisone or adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) (3-5). Several of these compounds have been shown to be produced by the action of adrenal gland preparations on a variety of steroid precursors (6-9). Kochakian and Stidworthy (10) reported the paper chromatographic mobility of some C&O3 steroids expressed as the ratio of the movement of the steroid to the movement of testosterone CRT value). In a recent publication by Savard (11) the chromatographic behavior of a number of 17-ketosteroids of the C1903 series was reported. However, in these communications no systematic technique for the separation of mixtures of a large number of these biochemically significant compounds was proposed. In the course of previous investigations carried out in this laboratory (9), preliminary observations on the chromatographic behavior of some steroids of this type were presented. Subsequently, methods were devised for the paper chromatographic separation of mixtures of &03 steroids as well as techniques for their qualitative characterization.

Quantitative and qualitative indicators of cone and seed for identification of two Juniper species in Golesan province

Among the Six native species of Juniperus genus in Iran,  J. polycarpos and J. excelsa have highest frequent and geographical distribution on the highlands of the country and play a crucial role in the natural ecosystem of presented area. Due to the similar appearance of mentioned species, it's difficult to identify them in the nature. In this study, quantitative traits indicators of cone and s...

GCxMS of diesel: a two-dimensional separation approach.

Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography can be viewed as a traditional gas chromatography with a sophisticated "elution-resolved" flame ionization detector (GC/FID) or a detector with separation capability. The concept of multidimensional chromatography can be extended to other detectors that also have separation capability, such as ultraviolet, infrared, and mass spectrometer. Mass sp...

Thin - layer chromatography of bile acids *

Prepara t ive separation of bile acids has been achieved by adsorption and partition chromatography, and microscale separations have been made by various paper-chromatographic methods (1). Using these methods, good separations and acceptable sensitivity can be achieved. Methods are lacking, however, that permit rapid qualitative analysis of a large number of samples; e.g., for the monitoring of...

Rapid Analysis of Anabolic Steroid Metabolites in Urine by Combining Field Asymmetric Waveform Ion Mobility Spectrometry with Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry.

The combination of field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-FAIMS-MS) has been developed for the analysis of glucuronide and sulfate metabolites of seven anabolic-androgenic steroids in urine. Separation by FAIMS-MS was investigated in positive ion mode for selected cationic adducts (H+, NH4+, Na+, K+, and Cs+). LC-FAIMS-MS analysis of...
