چکیده

Maximum availability is essential in the power generation and transmission sector. Faults in transmission lines, substations etc. can cause very serious damage. Therefore it is important to have means to examine each type of fault and the relay performance for different point on wave instant in detail using a relay testing simulator, in order to detect malfunction of the relay. “Point on wave fault generator” system is a subsystem of a relay testing simulator that creates a controlled fault on artificial transmission line for analyzing relay performance under most severe conditions, records the history of a fault and permits its reconstruction and subsequent analysis. During simulated fault, the system stores the waveforms and other states of the equipment. The main benefit of the “Point on wave fault generator” fault analysis system lies in fast, easy to operate facility through windows based custom built software. The simulated data of a controlled fault can be used to determine the fault levels at various points and to evaluate the behavior of the associated control and protection equipment. Concrete measures can then be deduced from the analysis of such faults, in order to predict future failures.

Application of Radial Basis Neural Networks in Fault Diagnosis of Synchronous Generator

This paper presents the application of radial basis neural networks to the development of a novel method for the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of synchronous generators. In the proposed scheme, flux linkage analysis is used to reach a decision. Probabilistic neural network (PNN) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) are used in design of fault diagnosis system. PNN as main part of thi...

A BIST Pattern Generator Design for Near-Perfect Fault Coverage

A new design methodology for a pattern generator is proposed, formulated in the context of on-chip BIST. The design methodology is circuit-specific and uses synthesis techniques to design BIST generators. The pattern generator consists of two components: a pseudorandom pattern generator (like an LFSR or, preferably, a GLFSR) and a combinational logic to map the outputs of the pseudorandom patte...

Combining Deterministic Logic BIST with Test Point Insertion

This paper presents a logic BIST approach which combines deterministic logic BIST with test point insertion. Test points are inserted to obtain a first testability improvement, and next a deterministic pattern generator is added to increase the fault efficiency up to 100%. The silicon cell area for the combined approach is smaller than for approaches that apply a deterministic pattern generator...

Analysis of Magnetic Flux Linkage Distribution in Salient-Pole Synchronous Generator with Different Kinds of Inter-Turn Winding Faults

A reliable and accurate diagnosis of inter-turn short circuit faults is a challenging problem in the area of fault diagnosis of electrical machines. The purpose of this challenge is to be more efficient in fault detection and to provide a reliable method with low-cost sensors and simple numerical algorithms which not only detect the occurrence of the fault, but also locate its position in the w...

Large Disturbance Stability Analysis of Wind Turbine Implemented with DFIG

As one of the most promising Distributed Generation (DG) sources, wind power technology has been widely developed in recent years. Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is currently employed as one of the most common topologies for wind turbine generators (WTGs). This generator operates as a synchronous/asynchronous hybrid generators. Therefore, it is necessary to power engineers find understan...
