A Multi-plane Volumetric Optical See-through Head Mounted 3D Display
نویسندگان
چکیده
We design an optical see-through head mounted display (HMD) employing multi-plane volumetric technique for augmented reality applications. With a stack of fast-switching polymerstabilized liquid crystal scattering shutters, the HMD provides correct depth information and solves the accommodationconvergence conflict. Author

A comparison of optical and video see-through head-mounted displays
One of the most promising and challenging future uses of head-mounted displays (HMDs) is in applications where virtual environments enhance rather than replace real environments. To obtain an enhanced view of the real environment, the user wears a see-through HMD to see 3D computergenerated objects superimposed on his/her real-world view. This see-through capability can be accomplished using ei...
متن کاملAir Mounted Eyepiece: Design Methods for Aerial Optical Functions of Near-Eye and See-Through Display using Transmissive Mirror Device
We propose a novel method to implement an optical see-through head mounted display which renders real aerial images with a wide viewing angle, called an Air Mounted Eyepiece (AME). To achieve the AMD design, we employ an off-the-shelf head mounted display and Transmissive Mirror Device (TMD) which is usually used in aerial real imaging systems. In the proposed method, we replicate the function ...
متن کاملSingle point active alignment method (SPAAM) for optical see-through HMD calibration for AR
Augmented reality (AR) is a technology in which a user’s view of the real world is enhanced or augmented with additional information generated from a computer model. In order to have a working AR system, the see-through display system must be calibrated so that the graphics is properly rendered. The optical see-through systems present an additional challenge because we do not have access to the...
متن کاملOptical see-through HMD calibration: a stereo method validated with a video see-through system
This paper presents initial results from an ongoing work to calibrate optical see-through head-mounted displays (HMDs). We have developed a method to calibrate stereoscopic optical see-through HMDs based on the 3D alignment of a target in the physical world with a virtual object in user’s view. This is an extension of the Single Point Active Alignment Method (SPAAM) [28] developed for monocular...
متن کامل3D Display Technology
In the last few decades, three-dimensional (3D) display has become very promising, with commercial products awaiting release to the mass market. 3D display has become more compact, comfortable and cheap. In the rapid development of material, computer technology has been the main factor. This paper will review the major trends in 3D-display technology, and covers stereoscopic display, integral i...
