چکیده

In present investigation the biological leaching of aluminum by isolated fungi from red mud, the main waste product of the alkaline extraction of Al from bauxite was studied. Biological leaching experiments were carried out using indigenous, date and orange specimen fungi, Aspergillus Niger, Penicillium simplicissimum notatum. Savored Dextrose chloramphenicol Agar (SDA) was used as medium for the selected fungi. All microorganisms were tested for acidproduction and leaching capabilities of aluminum from red mud. Leaching tests were performed in 250 mL Erlenmeyer flasks at 28 °C and at 150 rpm under aseptic conditions. Preheating of red mud and its impact on leaching process was investigated. Indigenous specimen fungi were the most efficient of the fungal cultures; 2082 mg of Al2O3/l was solubilized at 15 % pulp density of red mud. The metal content of leeching solution was determined by using wet chemical and atomic absorption spectrophotometer.

Effect of Hydrochloric Acid on Leaching Behavior of Calcareous Phosphorites

The bulk of the world's phosphate reserves is located in sedimentary horizons that contain appreciable amounts of carbonate. During beneficiation of phosphate rocks, huge amounts of oversize phosphate rocks are rejected from crushers. This reject also mostly contains low tricalcium phosphate and high carbonate content. In this study, experiments have been carried out to reduce/eliminate car...

Investigation on selective rhenium leaching from molybdenite roasting flue dusts

The possibility of selective leaching process was investigated during molybdenite flue dust leaching to recover its rhenium content. The results show that addition of alcohols to water makes the medium less favorable for molybdenum transfer into aqueous phase. On the other hand, addition of small amounts of alcohols (5-15%) makes a noticeable separation of rhenium over molybdenum, but by increa...

Investigation of parameters affecting desilication of diasporic bauxite in Jajarm mine by thermo-chemical treatment

Low grade diasporic bauxite in the Jajarm mine with an A/S (Al2O3/SiO2) ratio of 2.3 is not usable in the Bayer process at Jajarm Alumina Complex. Due to the severe interlocking effect between the diaspore and aluminosilicate minerals (Chamosite and Kaolinite) and iron-containing minerals in a microcrystal matrix, the thermo-chemical treatment, which is independent from micro-mineralogy, was ch...

Current Research Trends of Microbiological Leaching for Metal Recovery from Industrial Wastes

The concept of microbiological leaching have played a greater role to recover valuable metals from various sulfide minerals or low grade ores during the middle era of twentieth century and that continued till the end of the century. Slowly, due to depletion of ore/minerals, and implementation of stricter environmental rules, microbiological leaching process has been shifted for its application ...
