چکیده

In the framework of the non-relativistic Brueckner-Bethe-Goldstone theory, we derive a microscopic equation of state for asymmetric and β-stable matter containing Σ− and Λ hyperons. We mainly study the effects of three-body forces (TBF’s) among nucleons on the hyperon formation and the equation of state (EoS). We find that, when TBF’s are included, the stellar core is almost equally populated by nucleons and hyperons. The resulting EoS, which turns out to be extremely soft, has been used in order to calculate the static structure of neutron stars. We obtain a value of the maximum mass of 1.26 solar masses (1 solar mass Mo ≃ 1.99 ·10g). Stellar rotations increase this value by about 12%.

On the maximum rotational frequency of neutron and hybrid stars

We construct self-consistent equilibrium sequences of general relativistic, rotating neutron star models. Special emphasis in put on the determination of the maximum rotation frequency of such objects. Recently proposed models for the equation of state of neutron star matter are employed, which are derived by describing the hadronic phase within the many-body Brueckner–Bethe–Goldstone formalism...

Hyperon stars in the Brueckner-Bethe-Goldstone theory

In the framework of the Brueckner-Bethe-Goldstone theory, we determine a fully microscopic equation of state for asymmetric and β-stable nuclear matter containing Σ and Λ hyperons. We use the Paris and the new Argonne Av18 two-body nucleon interaction, whereas the nucleon-hyperon interaction is described by the Njimegen soft-core model. We stress the role played by the three-body nucleon intera...

The maximum and minimum mass of protoneutron stars in the Brueckner theory

We study the structure of protoneutron stars within the finite-temperature Brueckner-Bethe-Goldstone theoretical approach, paying particular attention to how it is joined to a low-density nuclear equation of state. We find a slight sensitivity of the minimum value of the protoneutron star mass to the low-density equation of state, whereas the maximum mass is hardly affected.

Unification of Brueckner Theory and HFB Theory

The usual approach to the Brueckner theory is to derive the expression for the ground-state energy of a many-particle system from perturbation theory. B y a partial summation of Goldstone diagrams, the Bethe-Goldstone equation defining the Brueckner twro-body G-matrix is obtained. A refined version of the Brueckner theory [1] uses true occupation probabilities for single particle levels. Da Pro...

Nuclear matter hole spectral function in the Bethe-Brueckner-Goldstone approach

The hole spectral function is calculated in nuclear matter to assess the relevance of nucleon-nucleon short range correlations. The calculation is carried out within the Brueckner scheme of many-body theory by using several nucleon-nucleon realistic interactions. Results are compared with other approaches based on variational methods and transport theory. Discrepancies appear in the high energy...
