Treatment of diaphyseal forearm bone fractures by Locking Compression Plate (LCP)

چکیده
Purpose:To evaluate the use of locking compression plates in the treatment of diaphyseal fractures of forearm. Methods:30 patients of forearm fractures were included in the study with 26 males and 4 females having mean age of 34 years. Follow up was done at 3, 6 and 12 months. Clinical assessment was done for the functional outcome according to Anderson criteria. Results:All the fractures united with mean union time 12.6 weeks. There was not a single case of nonunion with only 2 cases of delayed union. There was a single case of infection which was managed conservatively. None of the cases required bone grafting. Conclusion:Locking compression plate is no doubt an effective bridging device used for treating comminuted fractures, but its superiority over conventional plating in the treatment of simple factures is yet to be proven. Study Conducted at Postgraduate Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College, Jammu, India.

Effectiveness of locking versus dynamic compression plates for diaphyseal forearm fractures.
This study compares the results of the locking compression plate (LCP) and the dynamic compression plate (DCP) in the treatment of diaphyseal forearm fractures in adults and defines the indications for the use of the LCP. Forty-two patients with diaphyseal forearm fractures were retrospectively analyzed. Of those, 22 had been treated with the LCP (LCP group) and 20 had been treated with the DCP...
متن کاملInternal fixation of fractures of both bones forearm: Comparison of locked compression and limited contact dynamic compression plate
BACKGROUND The locking compression plate (LCP) with combination holes is a newer device in fracture fixation. We undertook a study comparing the LCP with limited contact dynamic compression plate (LC-DCP) in the treatment of diaphyseal fractures of both bones of the forearm. MATERIALS AND METHODS This is a prospective comparative study, 36 patients (18 in each group) with fractures of both th...
متن کاملProximal femoral locking compression plate for proximal femoral fractures.
PURPOSE To review short-term outcomes of proximal femoral locking compression plate (PF-LCP) fixation for proximal femoral fractures in terms of postoperative complications and failure rates. METHODS Medical records of 21 men and 5 women aged 22 to 85 (mean, 49.7) years who underwent internal fixation with the PF-LCP for proximal femoral fractures were reviewed. Younger patients (mean age, 38...
متن کاملIs plating of mid-shaft clavicular fractures possible with a conventional straight 3.5 millimeter locking compression plate?
OBJECTIVES Current literature describes improved clinical outcomes and a minor rate of pseudoarthrosis following operatively treated clavicular fractures. We investigated the feasibility of using a standard 3.5 mm AO locking compression plate (LCP) of adequate length for the stabilisation of mid-shaft fractures of the clavicle. METHODS The length and acromial and diaphyseal curvature depths w...
متن کاملPlate osteosynthesis of simple forearm fractures: LCP versus DC plates.
The aim of this study was to compare the time to radiological bony union of simple A-type fractures of the forearm, treated with either a locking compression plate (LCP) or a dynamic compression plate (DCP). For each fracture, the relation between the use of compression and radiological healing time was studied. Nine fractures were treated with LCP and 10 fractures with DC plates. The mean time...
