چکیده

Surface defects caused during cutting and polishing in the fabrication of cadmium zinc telluride (CdZnTe) nuclear detectors limit their spectral performance. Chemical treatments are often used to remove surface damages and defects. In this paper, we present the analysis of Te and TeO2 species on the surfaces of CdZnTe nuclear detectors treated with hydrogen bromide and ammonium-based solutions. The CdZnTe wafers were chemo-mechanically polished in a mixture of hydrogen bromide in hydrogen peroxide and ethylene glycol, followed by a chemical passivation in a mixture of ammonium fluoride and hydrogen peroxide solution. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed significant conversion of Te to TeO2, thus producing a more chemically stable surface. The resistivity of the CdZnTe samples is in the order of 10 ohms-cm. The current for a given applied voltage increased following the passivation and decreased after a 3-hour period. Results from spectral response measurements showed that the 59.5-keV gamma-peak of Am-241 was stable under the same channel for the surface treatment processes.

Characterisation of Surface Treated CdZnTe and Thin Film CdTe based Devices

The performance of single crystal CdZnTe radiation detectors is dependent on both the bulk and thesurface properties of the material. After single crystal fabrication and mechanical polishing, modificationof the surface to remove damage and reduce the surface leakage current is generally achieved throughchemical etching followed by a passivation treatment. In this work, CdZnTe singl...

Various double beta decay modes of Cd, Zn and Te isotopes are explored with the help of CdTe and CdZnTe semiconductor detectors. The data set is splitted in an energy range below 1MeV having a statistics of 134.5 g·d and one above 1MeV resulting in 532 g·d. No signals were observed in all channels under investigation. New improved limits for the neutrinoless double beta decay of Zn of T1/2 > 1....

Molecular Interaction Studies of Ammonium Dihydrogen Phosphate in the Aqueous Solutions of Mono, Di and Triprotic Acids – An Ultrasonic Study

Aqueous solutions of mono, di, and triprotic acids were prepared with different molar percentages (say 10%, 20% and 30%). ammonium dihydrogen phosphate is gradually introduced in the aqueous solutions at different concentrations varied from 0.1M to 0.6M at 303K. Densities, viscosities, and velocity of sound of aqueous solutions are measured and they are used to evaluate the other parameters lik...
