چکیده

Computer vision-based monitoring was used for automated recognition of the activities of participants in a meeting. A head tracker, originally developed for monitoring in a home environment, was evaluated for this smart meeting application using the PETS-ICVS 2003 video data sets. The shape of each person’s head was modelled as approximately elliptical whilst internal appearance was modelled using colour histograms. Gradient and colour cues were combined to provide measurements for tracking using particle filters. A particle filter based on Iterated Likelihood Weighting (ILW) was used which, in conjunction with the broad likelihood responses obtained, achieved accurate tracking even when the motion model was poor. It was compared to the widely used Sampling Importance Resampling (SIR) algorithm. Results are reported for tracking and recognition of the actions of the six meeting participants in the PETS-ICVS data. ILW outperformed standard SIR and reliably tracked all participants throughout the meeting scenarios.

Introducing " XMOB " : Extremity Movement Observation Framework for Upper Body Pose Tracking in 3 D 1 Cuong

We introduce a vision based, markerless upper body pose tracking approach that first tracks the 3D movements of extremities, including head and hands. Then based on the knowledge of upper body model, these extremity movements are used to predict the whole upper body motion as an inverse kinematics problem. The experimental validation showed the promise of applying this approach in several smart...

Audio-visual perception of a lecturer in a smart seminar room

In this paper we present our work on audio-visual perception of a lecturer in a smart seminar room, which is equipped with various cameras and microphones. We present a novel approach to track the lecturer based on visual and acoustic observations in a particle filter framework. This approach does not require explicit triangulation of observations in order to estimate the 3D location of the lec...

A Study on Visual Focus of Attention Recognition from Head Pose in a Meeting Room

This paper presents a study on the recognition of the visual focus of attention (VFOA) of meeting participants based on their head pose. Contrarily to previous studies on the topic, in our set-up, the potential VFOA of people is not restricted to other meeting participants only, but includes environmental targets (table, slide screen). This has two consequences. Firstly, this increases the numb...
