چکیده

The development of computer technologies and computer science has been largely motivated by a desire to support, extend and amplify the human intellect. The first general purpose computer, ENIAC, was built in 1946 to calculate artillery firing tables to support the task of artillery crews. At SRI in the mid-1960s, Doug Engelbart, in a project aptly entitled “Augmenting Human Intellect: A Conceptual Framework” [7], invented the mouse, the GUI (Graphic User Interface), hypertext (e.g. HTML), networked computers, and collaborative software tools such as teleand video-conferencing. Today, the Internet, the WWW, a myriad of computer applications, and computational concepts and techniques are available for the purpose of augmenting a person’s productivity, and more, in practically all human endeavors.

A K-6 Computational Thinking Curriculum Framework: Implications for Teacher Knowledge

Adding computer science as a separate school subject to the core K-6 curriculum is a complex issue with educational challenges. The authors herein address two of these challenges: (1) the design of the curriculum based on a generic computational thinking framework, and (2) the knowledge teachers need to teach the curriculum. The first issue is discussed within a perspective of designing an auth...

Inquiry in Designing Conceptual Model of Curriculum: A Synthesis Approach

Introduction: The importance and necessity of designing a conceptual model of curriculum is one of the important issues in the educational system of a country. Given the current status of the education system, which does not use a comprehensive model concept at all levels to design and formulate a curriculum, therefore, this descriptive study provides a comprehensive conceptual framework. Metho...

From Computational Thinking to Systems Thinking: A conceptual toolkit for sustainability computing

If information and communication technologies (ICT) are to bring about a transformational change to a sustainable society, then we need to transform our thinking. Computer professionals already have a conceptual toolkit for problem solving, sometimes known as computational thinking. However, computational thinking tends to see the world in terms a series of problems (or problem types) that have...
