چکیده

The maximum molar yield of hydrogen that can be obtained from a renewable sugar such as glucose is 12 mol H per mole glucose. In this work it has been shown that the enzymes of the oxidative 2 cyclic pentose phosphate pathway coupled to hydrogenase, using NADP as the electron carrier, is + capable of generating 11.6 mol H per mole of glucose-6-phosphate (G6P). These results provide the 2 first evidence to indicate that the maximum molar yield of hydrogen from a renewable sugar, such as glucose, is possible enzymatically, and, as such, could lead to an efficent process for biohydrogen production.

Efficient Cell-Free Hydrogen Production from Glucose

Our objective is to develop scaleable technology that will efficiently convert glucose and xylose, the primary products of cellulosic biomass digestion, into hydrogen. This project was designed to investigate feasibility. Key challenges were: a) demonstrating effective production of a complex hydrogenase under anaerobic conditions, and b) demonstrating the effective coupling of the hydrogenase ...

Simulation and modeling of hydrogen production from glucose biomass model compound via hydro-thermal gasification

Glucose is a 6-carbon carbohydrate compound present in plants and the ingredient for hemicellulose which makes up 30% of plants’ total mass. The current study uses glucose as reactant and evaluates hydrogen generation at different temperatures and different amounts of input flow of glucose – water mixture. Hydrothermal gasification method is used for hydrogen generation in an open system with c...

Sources of glucose production in cirrhosis by 2H2O ingestion and 2H NMR analysis of plasma glucose.

Plasma glucose 2H enrichment was quantified by 2H NMR in patients with cirrhosis (n=6) and healthy subjects (n=5) fasted for 16 h and given 2H(2)O to approximately 0.5% body water. The percent contribution of glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis to glucose production (GP) was estimated from the relative enrichments of hydrogen 5 and hydrogen 2 of plasma glucose. Fasting plasma glucose levels were...
