چکیده

We first consider a single–server queue that serves a tagged MMPP–2 stream and a background MMPP–2 stream in a FIFO manner. The service time is exponentially distributed. For this queueing system, we obtain the CDF of the tagged inter-departure time, from which we can calculate the jitter, defined as a percentile of the inter–departure time. The formulation is exact, but the solution is obtained numerically, which introduces an error that has been found to be negligible. Subsequently, we consider a tandem queueing network consisting of N which is traversed by the MMPP–2 tagged stream, and where each queue also serves a local MMPP–2 background stream. For this queueing network, we obtain an upper bound of the CDF of the inter–departure time from the Nth queue using a heavy traffic approximation and verify it by simulation.

Delay Jitter Correlation Analysis for Traffic Transmission on High Speed Networks

We study the time-dynamic behavior of delay jit-ter as captured by the autocorrelation function; the second-order statistics provide information relating to consecutive cell loss in real-time services. We derive an expression for delay jitter correlation of a stationary traac stream in an MMPP/M/1/K system with FIFO service discipline; use of a type of deterministic rate server yields the same ...

Connection-Wise End-to-End Delay Analysis in ATM Networks

A systematic method for connection-wise endto-end delay analysis in asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks is proposed. This method consists of the followings: (i) per-stream nodal analysis; (ii) output processes characterization; and (iii) moment matching scheme. Following our previous work [1], we employ H-MMPPs/Slotted D/1 to model ATM queues. Each virtual connection (VC) in ATM networks ...

Fitting MMPP to IP Stream

Markov Modulated Posson Process (MMPP) is a good model of Internet traffic. We take an IP trace and fit an MMPP to it using an algorithm recently published in a Journal. It is observed that trace generated using the MMPP model of the original trace has a distribution similar to the original trace. This is seen in the form of a linear quantile-quantile plot. Average queuing delay with data trace...

Pii: S0166-5316(00)00036-5

A systematic method for link/connection-wise end-to-end performance evaluation in queueing networks receiving heterogeneous Markov-modulated Poisson processes (H-MMPPs) is proposed. The method consists of (i) connection-wise nodal performance analysis; (ii) tagged departure process analysis; and (iii) moment matching. For the tagged departure process of an H-MMPPs/G/1 queue, we propose two deco...

MMPP Modeling of Aggregated ATM Traffic - Electrical and Computer Engineering, 1998. IEEE Canadian Conference on

The paper presents a study on the use of MarkovModulated Poisson Precesses (MMPP ’s) in modeling aggregate ATM tmfic in order to evaluate the queueing performance. Performance of various techniques for matching a 2-state MMPP to a Superposition of on-ofl sources is compared. The applicability of the 2state MMPP and its corresponding parameter matching techniques to model an arbitmry aggregate A...
