چکیده
After the publication of our work in BMC Cancer [1], we became aware of an omission. In the Methods section, under the subtitles "Cell lines and tissue samples for cDNA arrays" and "cDNA probe preparation" we failed to quote the original description of how the cDNA library was generated, published in the Journal Archives of Medical Research as quoted below [2]. Since this initial analysis, further data mining has been performed, and the obtained results answer very different biological questions [1].

Overexpression of EMMPRIN Isoform 2 Is Associated with Head and Neck Cancer Metastasis
Extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer (EMMPRIN), a plasma membrane protein of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily, has been reported to promote cancer cell invasion and metastasis in several human malignancies. However, the roles of the different EMMPRIN isoforms and their associated mechanisms in head and neck cancer progression remain unknown. Using quantitative real-time PCR, we fou...
متن کاملP-136: Association of Matrix MetalloProteinase- 2,-9 Overexpression and Imbalance PR-A/PR-B Ratio in Endometriosis
Background: Matrix MetalloProteinases (MMPs) degrade extracellular matrix components to provide normal remodeling and contribute to pathological tissue destruction and cell migration in endometriosis. It is accepted that MMPs are resistant to suppression by progesterone in endometriotic tissues. The physiological effects of progesterone are mediated by its two progesterone receptor (PR) isoform...
متن کاملComparison of Matrix Metalloproteinases 2 mRNA Expression in Prostatic Adenocarcinoma and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Background and Aims: Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide in men. Matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) has a role in the invasion and destruction of the basement membrane and the extra-cellular matrix and facilitating the process of tumor cell invasion. The present study was conducted to compare the expression of MMP2 gene in prostate cancer (PCa) and benign prostatic ...
متن کاملRepression of Matrix Metalloproteinases and Cytokine Secretion in Glioblastoma by Targeting K+ Channel: An in Vitro Study
Introduction: Glioblastoma is an aggressive malignancy of human brain with poorly understood pathogenesis. Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels and Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are highly expressed in malignant tumors and involved in the progression and metastasis of glioblastoma. The purpose of this study was to determine whether a voltage-dependent potassium channel blocker could modulat...
متن کاملRole of immunohistochemical overexpression of matrix metalloproteinases MMP-2 and MMP-11 in the prognosis of death by ovarian cancer.
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are enzymes thought to be involved in tumor invasion. We hypothesized that MMP-2 and MMP-11 overexpression was associated with the aggressiveness of ovarian carcinoma. This study was performed on samples from 100 patients with stage III ovarian carcinomas treated surgically between 1990 and 2000. Immunohistochemical staining was performed on ovarian tumors and p...
