The percentage phagocytic blood Mono was maximized at an A:L ratio of 1.25 although there was an overall decrease in Mono and nitrite production at 32 C. The number of E. Coli phagocytized per Mono and nitrite production 40 h post-LPS, but not 24 h post-LPS, decreased with A:L ratio. Numerically, the greatest nitrite production 24 h post-LPS was at the A:L ratio of 1.25. These data indicate that phagocytic functions of monocytes and macrophages are influenced by dietary A:L ratio.
