Radiative Hydrodynamic Modeling of the Bastille - Day Flare ( 14 July , 2000 ) : I . Numerical Simulations

چکیده
A 1-D loop radiative hydrodynamic model that incorporates the effects of gravitational stratification, heat conduction, radiative losses, external heat input, presence of helium, and Braginskii viscosity is used to simulate elementary flare loops. The physical parameters for the input are taken from observations of the Bastille-Day flare of 2000 July 14. The present analysis shows that: (a) The obtained maximum values of the electron density can be considerably higher (4.2 × 10 11 cm −3 or more) in the case of footpoint heating than in the case of apex heating (2.5 × 10 11 cm −3). (b) The average cooling time after the flare peak takes less time in the case of footpoint heating than in the case of apex heating. (c) The peak apex temperatures are significantly lower (by about 10 MK) for the case of footpoint heating than for apex heating (for the same average loop temperature of about 30 MK). This characteristic allows us to discriminate between different heating positioning. (d) In both cases (of apex and footpoint heating), the maximum obtained apex temperature T max is practically independent of the heating duration σt, but scales directly with the heating rate EH0. (e) The maximum obtained densities at the loop apex, n max e , increase with the heating rate EH0 and heating duration σt for both footpoint and apex heating. In Paper II we will use the outputs of these hydrodynamic simulations, which cover a wide range of the parameter space of heating rates and durations, as an input for forward-fitting of the multi-loop arcade of the Bastille-day flare.

متن کاملModeling an X-ray Flare on Proxima Centauri: evidence of two flaring loop components and of two heating mechanisms at work
We model in detail a flare observed on Proxima Centauri with the EPIC-PN on board XMM-Newton at high statistics and high time resolution and coverage. Time-dependent hydrodynamic loop modeling is used to describe the rise and peak of the light curve, and a large fraction of the decay, including its change of slope and a secondary maximum, over a duration of more than 2 hours. The light curve, t...
متن کاملMulti-Thread Hydrodynamic Modeling of a Solar Flare
Past hydrodynamic simulations have been able to reproduce the high temperatures and densities characteristic of solar flares. These simulations, however, have not been able to account for the slow decay of the observed flare emission or the absence of blueshifts in high spectral resolution line profiles. Recent work has suggested that modeling a flare as an sequence of independently heated thre...
متن کاملField Measurements and 3D Numerical Modeling of Hydrodynamics in Chabahar Bay, Iran
As the first phase of a series of monitoring and modeling studies of Iranian coastal areas, Chabahar Bay, located on the north coast of the Gulf of Oman, was under a comprehensive monitoring and modeling study in 2006-2007. The study included an extensive one-year field measurements program to help understanding the ongoing processes in the bay and provide inputs or boundary conditions and vali...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Saline Gravity Currents Using EARSM and Buoyant k- Turbulence Closures
Gravity currents are very common in nature and may appear in rivers, lakes, oceans, and the atmosphere. They are produced by the buoyant forces interacting between fluids of different densities and may introduce sediments and pollutants into water bodies. In this study, the hydrodynamics and propagation of gravity currents are investigated using WISE (Width Integrated Stratified Environments), ...
