Comparative Evaluation of Breakdown Strength of Natural Esters and Mineral Oil
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents results of experimental investigations on natural esters dielectric and coolant fluids regarding the breakdown strength. The breakdown voltage (BDV) for small and medium oil gaps (from 2 mm up to 40 mm) under AC and lightning impulse (LI), uniform and non-uniform electrical field is measured. Experiments involve new, aged and with mineral oil contaminated natural esters. The creep BDV over 5 mm long pressboard element impregnated with both mineral oil and natural ester is measured. The discharge development is investigated by means of partial discharge inception voltage and streamer velocity measurements. The application suitability of the Weibull and Gaussian distribution functions is discussed with reference to the estimated withstand voltage. Natural esters require additional handling care during the experiments regarding the conditioning of the fluid. Avoiding the contact with the atmosphere and by removing the breakdown products (gases, carbon particles) natural esters showed in the investigated arrangements same or better dielectric performance than mineral oil.

Streamer Propagation and Breakdown in a Very Small Point-Insulating Plate Gap in Mineral Oil and Ester Liquids at Positive Lightning Impulse Voltage
This article presents the results of comparative studies on streamer propagation and breakdown in a point-insulating plate electrode system in mineral oil and two ester liquids. The studies were performed for a 10-mm gap and a positive standard lightning impulse. The work was focused on the comparison of light waveforms registered using the photomultiplier technique. The results indicated that ...
متن کاملInfluence of Copper Particles on Breakdown Voltage and Frequency-Dependent Dielectric Property of Vegetable Insulating Oil
The insulating performance of oil is vulnerable to particles especially the conductive particles. This paper investigated the influence of copper particles of micrometer size on the breakdown strength and frequency-dependent properties of vegetable oil. The AC breakdown voltage of contaminated vegetable oil with copper particles of different numbers (ranging from 103 to 106) was measured. The f...
متن کاملA Comparative Study on the use of Butyl Esters of Soyabean and Sunflower Oils as Biodiesel Fuel for Compression Ignition Engine
To study the feasibility of using two edible plant oils as diesel substitute a comparative study was made. Oils were exacted from the seeds of soyabean (Glycine Max, Family: Leguminoceae) and sunflower(Helianthus annuus, Family: Asteraceae/Compositeae). Oils were esterified (butyl esters) before blending with pure diesel in the ratio of 10:90, 15:85, 20:80, and 25:75 by volume. Pure diesel was ...
متن کاملStudy of Dielectric Breakdown Performance of Transformer Oil Based Magnetic Nanofluids
Research on the transformer oil-based nanofluids (NFs) has been raised expeditiously over the past decade. Although, there is discrepancy in the stated results and inadequate understanding of the mechanisms of improvement of dielectric nanofluids, these nanofluids have emerged as a potential substitute of mineral oils as insulating and heat removal fluids for high voltage equipment. The transfo...

Agaricus bisporus and Agaricus bitorquis are among most favorite mushrooms of the world. Mineral contents, proximate composition and fatty acid profile of these mushrooms were determined for evaluation of their dietary value. Na, K and Li contents were high, while Cr, Cu, Pb, Co, Zn, Mn and Ni concentrations were low in both Agaricus bisporus and Agaricus bitorquis. Proximate analysis showe...
