Hybrid Dialogue State Tracking for Real World Human-to-Human Dialogues

چکیده
Dialogue state tracking is a key sub-task of dialogue management. The fourth Dialog State Tracking Challenge (DSTC-4) focuses on dialogue state tracking for real world human-tohuman dialogues. The task is more challenging than previous challenges because of more complex domain and coreferences, more synonyms and abbreviations, sub-dialogue level labelled utterances, and no spoken language understanding output provided. To deal with these challenges, this paper proposes a novel hybrid dialogue state tracking method, which can take advantage of the strength of both rule-based and statistical methods. Thousands of rules are first automatically generated using a template-based rule generation approach and then combined together with several manually designed rules to yield the output of the rule-based method. In parallel, a statistical method is applied to track the state. The tracker finally takes the union of the outputs of the two methods. In DSTC-4 evaluation, the proposed hybrid tracker obtained state-of-the-art results. It ranked the second and significantly outperformed the baseline system and most submissions.

Towards Improving Dialogue Topic Tracking Performances with Wikification of Concept Mentions
Dialogue topic tracking aims at analyzing and maintaining topic transitions in on-going dialogues. This paper proposes to utilize Wikification-based features for providing mention-level correspondences to Wikipedia concepts for dialogue topic tracking. The experimental results show that our proposed features can significantly improve the performances of the task in mixed-initiative human-human ...
متن کاملFrames: a corpus for adding memory to goal-oriented dialogue systems
This paper presents the Frames dataset1, a corpus of 1369 human-human dialogues with an average of 15 turns per dialogue. We developed this dataset to study the role of memory in goal-oriented dialogue systems. Based on Frames, we introduce a task called frame tracking, which extends state tracking to a setting where several states are tracked simultaneously. We propose a baseline model for thi...

In this paper, we present a neural network based task-oriented dialogue system that can be optimized end-to-end with deep reinforcement learning (RL). The system is able to track dialogue state, interface with knowledge bases, and incorporate query results into agent’s responses to successfully complete task-oriented dialogues. dialogue policy learning is conducted with a hybrid supervised and ...
متن کاملDiscovering Latent Structure in Task-Oriented Dialogues
A key challenge for computational conversation models is to discover latent structure in task-oriented dialogue, since it provides a basis for analysing, evaluating, and building conversational systems. We propose three new unsupervised models to discover latent structures in task-oriented dialogues. Our methods synthesize hidden Markov models (for underlying state) and topic models (to connect...

This paper describes the development and testing of a pilot spoken dialogue system for bus travel information in the city of Trondheim, Norway. The system driven dialogue was designed on the basis of analyzed recordings from both human-human operator dialogues, Wizard-of-Oz (WoZ) dialogues, and a text-based inquiry system for the web. The dialogue system employs a flexible speech recognizer and...
