Contrast-Enhanced MRA in the NSF Era: Potential for Contrast Dose Reduction

نویسنده

چکیده

Purpose: Higher doses of gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCA) are often used for contrast-enhanced MRA (CE-MRA). Patients with moderateto-severe (stages 3-5) chronic kidney disease undergoing contrast-enhanced MR imaging are known to be at increased risk for developing nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, particularly with higher doses or repeated exposure to GBCA (1-2). Herein we review information on the application of lower doses of the higher-relaxivity gadobenate dimeglumine (MultiHance; Gd-BOPTA) for CE-MRA.

Magnetic resonance angiography: current status and future directions

With recent improvement in hardware and software techniques, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) has undergone significant changes in technique and approach. The advent of 3.0 T magnets has allowed reduction in exogenous contrast dose without compromising overall image quality. The use of novel intravascular contrast agents substantially increases the image windows and decreases contrast dose....

بهینه سازی نگاره های MRA مغز با استفاده از ماده کنتر است زا در میدان مغناطیسی 1.5 تسلا

Background and purpose: Selection of suitable parameters for brain MRA requires accurate measures, because the image quality depends on the location of arteries, veins and also the velocity differences of blood, taking into account the low blood flow in small veins and arteries, use of paramagnetic contrast media is recommended. Hence, in present study, we investigated the imaging optimizatio...

Combined low-dose contrast-enhanced MR angiography and perfusion for acute ischemic stroke at 3T: A more efficient stroke protocol.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE There is need to improve image acquisition speed for MR imaging in evaluation of patients with acute ischemic stroke. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of a 3T MR stroke protocol that combines low-dose contrast-enhanced MRA and dynamic susceptibility contrast perfusion, without additional contrast. METHODS Thirty patients with acute stroke who un...

Comparison of different techniques for non-contrast –enhanced and contrast-enhanced Magnetic Resonance Angiography of the Carotid arteries

Purpose: Since the introduction of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in clinical routine vascular imaging always has been a challenge. Early MR angiography (MRA) techniques were based on intrinsic contrast mechanisms related to blood (non CE techniques). The development of contrast enhanced (CE) MRA techniques using gadolinium based contrast agents (GBCA) substantially changed vascular MR applic...

Evaluation of the relation between breast glandular absorbed dose and radiographic quality in mammography

Background: Breast is one of the main radiological sensitive organs, hence it is important to evaluate absorbed dose to this organ especially to the glandular parts. It is the aim of this study to measure mean glandular dose and image contrast in terms of different mammographic parameters. Materials and Methods: In this study two mammography machines located at Said-al Shohada (Giotto) ...
