چکیده

Definition 1. An (archimedean) absolute value on a field k is a real valued function ‖ · ‖ : k → [0,∞) with the following three properties: (1) ‖x‖ = 0 if and only if x = 0. (2) ‖xy‖ = ‖x‖ · ‖y‖. (3) ‖x+ y‖ ≤ ‖x‖+ ‖y‖. A nonarchimedean absolute value satisfies the extra condition that (3’) ‖x+ y‖ ≤ max{‖x‖, ‖y‖}. If k is a field, we denote Mk the set of absolute values on k. As an abuse of notation we say that if | · |v is an absolute value on k then v ∈ Mk rather then | · |v ∈Mk. The rational numbers Q have the archimedean absolute value |x|∞ = max{x,−x}. For each prime number p ∈ Z there is a nonarchimedean absolute value (usually called the p-adic absolute value) |x|p = p−ordp(x). Where ordp(x) is the unique integer such that x can be written in the form x = pp · a/b with a, b ∈ Z and p ab . Note 1. It can be proved that up to a ”power” that these are the only nontrivial absolute values on Q. See [Lang Number Theory] or [B-S Number Theory] Theorem 2. (Power Rule 1) ∏

Height and Crown Area Distribution of Cionura erecta Shrub lands in chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Using Probability Distribution Functions

Importance of probability distribution functions in natural resource studies is increasing due to their effective roles in better understanding of vegetation structure and providing conceptual models of quantitative indices of plant species. The present study was performed to model the distribution of height and canopy area of Cionura erecta L. shrub, using probability distribution functions in...

Fitting Tree Height Distributions in Natural Beech Forest Stands of Guilan (Case Study: Masal)

In this research, modeling tree height distributions of beech in natural forests of Masal that is located in Guilan province; was investigated. Inventory was carried out using systematic random sampling with network dimensions of 150×200 m and area sample plot of 0.1 ha. DBH and heights of 630 beech trees in 30 sample plots were measured. Beta, Gamma, Normal, Log-normal and Weibull prob...

Investigation of the Allometric Models in Estimation of Poplar (Populus deltoides) Height

One of the most important issues in forest biometrics is the use of allometric functions to estimate the tree height by using diameter-height models. Measuring the total height of trees is usually a complex and time-consuming process. In allometric functions, the diameter is measured directly but the height of the tree is an estimate of an allometric model, which will be more accurate if the cr...

Arithmetic Height Functions over Finitely Generated Fields

In this paper, we propose a new height function for a variety defined over a finitely generated field overQ. For this height function, we will prove Northcott’s theorem and Bogomolov’s conjecture, so that we can recover the original Raynaud’s theorem (Manin-Mumford’s conjecture). CONTENTS Introduction 1 1. Locality of Connective Constants, Ii. Cayley Graphs

The connective constant μ(G) of an infinite transitive graph G is the exponential growth rate of the number of self-avoiding walks from a given origin. In earlier work of Grimmett and Li, a locality theorem was proved for connective constants, namely, that the connective constants of two graphs are close in value whenever the graphs agree on a large ball around the origin. A condition of the th...

Canonical Height Functions Defined on the Affine Plane Associated with Regular Polynomial Automorphisms

Let f : A → A be a regular polynomial automorphism (e.g., a Hénon map) defined over a number field K. We construct canonical height functions defined on A(K) associated with f . These functions satisfy the Northcott finiteness property, and an Kvalued point on A(K) is f -periodic if and only if its height is zero. As an application of canonical height functions, we give a refined estimate on th...
