The tumor and metastatic lymph nodes were not found after parotidectomy and radiotherapy (RT). For survey of recurrent cancer, Ffluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET) was performed twice and showed one hypermetabolic lesion in the right middle cervical region, which was not detected by computed tomography (CT), and the other two in the left posterior auricle and deep lower cervical regions. The final pathology confirmed recurrent metastatic SCC of the right cervical lymph nodes. In this case, the value of FDG-PET for earlier detection of recurrent lymph node metastases after RT was demonstrated.

Management of recurrent cervical cancer.

Approximately 30% of cervical cancer patients will ultimately fail after definitive treatment. The reported 5-year survival rates of patients with treatment failure are between 3.2% and 13%. Management of recurrences depends on the extent of disease, primary treatment, and performance status/comorbidity. Primary treatment, relapse pattern, and characteristics at presentation are determinants fo...

Unknown primary mucoepidermoid carcinoma: diagnosis and treatment.

BACKGROUND Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common malignant salivary gland tumor. The majority of MECs occur in major or intraoral minor salivary glands. Herein, we present a case of MEC metastatic to cervical lymph nodes with an unknown primary site and discuss diagnostic and treatment options. METHODS AND RESULTS The patient was a 43-year-old man who presented with a large right-...

Boron neuron capture therapy using epithermal neutrons for recurrent cancer in the oral cavity and cervical lymph node metastasis.

The purpose of this clinical trial was to evaluate the utility of boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) using epithermal neutrons for cases of recurrent cancer in the oral cavity, which are not indicated for a conventional treatment modality. We enrolled four patients with local recurrence or metastasis to the regional lymph nodes after completion of initial treatments, including surgery, chemot...

Late recurrence of acinic cell carcinoma of the parotid gland.

Acinic cell carcinoma of the salivary glands is a rare cancer representing a low grade malignancy. The recurrence of a tumor is sometimes encountered, usually within 5 years of initial operation. We describe an unusual recurrence after a long interval following primary surgery. In 1987, a 60-year-old woman underwent excision of a mass in the superficial lobe of the right parotid gland under the...

AIM To evaluate 68Ga-PSMA ligand positron-emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT)-based radiotherapy for lymph node metastases of prostate cancer after primary therapy. PATIENTS AND METHODS Twenty-three patients received radiotherapy for PSMA ligand-positive lymph node metastases. RESULTS The median follow-up time was 12.4 (range=6.0-28.5) months. The median pre-treatment prostate-...
