Automatic Piping System in Ship

One of the most complicated and time-consuming process in ship production is to determine the optimum route of piping. The automatic system to generate optimum collision free routes for pipes is presented in this paper. In the past, research has been primarily focused on the use of only deterministic or only nondeterministic optimization techniques to find the optimal route. In this paper, the combination between deterministic and nondeterministic optimization techniques is proposed. The strategy is to use a deterministic technique as a tool to find the optimum route while the tool’s parameters are chosen by the nondeterministic technique. The practical aspects, i.e. branching and minimizing the cost are included in the objective function to be optimised. The performance of this novel approach is measured by its ability to accommodate and efficiently solve problems in the real ship application.
