The Isocam/lw Detector Dark Current Behaviour

چکیده

We describe the calibration, measurements and data reduction, of the dark current of the ISOCAM/LW detector. We point-out the existence of two significant drifts of the LW dark-current, one throughout the ISO mission, on a timescale of days, another within each single revolution, on a timescale of hours. We also show the existence of a dependence of the dark current on the temperature of the ISOCAM detector. By characterizing all these effects through polynomial fittings, we build a model for the LW calibration dark, that depends on the epoch of observation (parametrized with the revolution number and the time elapsed in that given revolution since the activation) and on the temperature of the ISOCAM detector. The model parameters are tuned for each of ISOCAM/LW pixel. We show that the modelling is very effective in taking into account the dark-current variations and allows a much cleaner dark subtraction than using a brute average of several calibration dark images. The residuals of the LW model-dark subtraction are, on average, similar to the pre-launch expectation.

High Performance CMOS Light Detector with Dark Current Suppression in Variable-Temperature Systems

This paper presents a dark current suppression technique for a light detector in a variable-temperature system. The light detector architecture comprises a photodiode for sensing the ambient light, a dark current diode for conducting dark current suppression, and a current subtractor that is embedded in the current amplifier with enhanced dark current cancellation. The measured dark current of ...

The dark side of star formation in galaxy clusters: spectroscopic follow-up of clusters observed with ISOCAM

The evolution of galaxies in cluster environments can be studied using mid-IR observations which trace star forming regions hidden by dust. The optical follow-up of A1689 (z=0.2), observed at 6.7 and 15 μm by ISOCAM, have revealed a systematic excess of the B-[15 μm] galaxy color distribution with respect that of Coma and Virgo clusters. This result suggests the existence of a dark side of the ...

The potential of GENIUS as a dark matter detector is discussed. A study was performed to demonstrate the good behaviour of the proposed detector design of naked HPGe-crystals in liquid nitrogen. The expected background components were simulated and are discussed in some detail. With the obtained background GENIUS could cover a large part of the favoured MSSM parameter-space.

In-orbit Performance of the Lws Detectors

The Long-Wavelength Spectrometer (LWS) onboard the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) covers the 43-197m region with ten doped-Germanium photocon-ductors that are read out with integrating JF-4 ampli-ers. The behaviour of these detector/readout units during some 500 days of operations in space is described. There are no systematic variations of the sensitivity and of the dark current in observati...

Investigation of Dark Current Shot Noise in CdS/CuInSe2-Photodiodes with a Lock-in Technique

A very Jow noise measurement system is described with a noise temperature of 0.5 K consisting of a mercury wetted reed switch, low noise preamplifier, and synchronous detector. The set-up can te tuned from 20 kHz up to 3.15 GHz corresponding to the bandwidth of relay and prcamplifieI'. The shot noise of CdSjCulnSe2-photodiode,s has been investigated. Deviations from the expected behaviour indic...
