چکیده

It has been shown by Nistor (Doc Math J DMV 2:263–295, 1997) that given any extension of associative algebras over C, the connecting morphism in periodic cyclic homology is compatible, under the Chern–Connes character, with the index morphism in lower algebraic K -theory. The proof relies on the abstract properties of cyclic theory, essentially excision, which does not provide explicit formulas a priori. Avoiding the use of excision, we explain in this article how to get explicit formulas in a wide range of situations. The method is connected to the renormalization procedure introduced in our previous work on the bivariant Chern character for quasihomomorphisms Perrot (J Geom Phys 60:1441–1473, 2010), leading to “local” index formulas in the sense of non-commutative geometry. We illustrate these principles with the example of the classical family index theorem: we find that the characteristic numbers of the index bundle associated to a family of elliptic pseudodifferential operators are expressed in terms of the (fiberwise) Wodzicki residue. Extending Traces with OAT: An Object Attribute Trace Package for Tcl/Tk

Tcl supports variable traces, which associate arbitrary scripts with variable reads, writes and unsets. We developed OAT (Object Attribute Traces), a protocol for extending traces to attributes of arbitrary Tcl “objects.” We wrote several OAT-based extensions including TkOAT, which provides traces on attributes of Tk widgets and canvas items. The OAT protocol and derived extensions bring the be...

Renormalized Solutions for Strongly Nonlinear Elliptic Problems with Lower Order Terms and Measure Data in Orlicz-Sobolev Spaces

The purpose of this paper is to prove the existence of a renormalized solution of perturbed elliptic problems$ -operatorname{div}Big(a(x,u,nabla u)+Phi(u) Big)+ g(x,u,nabla u) = mumbox{ in }Omega,  $ in the framework of Orlicz-Sobolev spaces without any restriction on the $M$ N-function of the Orlicz spaces, where $-operatorname{div}Big(a(x,u,nabla u)Big)$ is a Leray-Lions operator defined f...

2 1 D ec 2 00 8 Ising ( Conformal ) Fields and Cluster Area Measures

We provide a representation for the scaling limit of the d = 2 critical Ising magnetization field as a (conformal) random field using SLE (Schramm-Loewner Evolution) clusters and associated renormalized area measures. The renormalized areas are from the scaling limit of the critical FK (Fortuin-Kasteleyn) clusters and the random field is a convergent sum of the area measures with random signs. ...

Local Logics for Traces

A μ-calculus over dependence graph representation of traces is considered. It is shown that the μ-calculus cannot express all monadic second order (MSO) properties of dependence graphs. Several extensions of the μ-calculus are presented and it is proved that these extensions are equivalent in expressive power to MSO logic. The satisfiability problem for these extensions is PSPACE complete.
