Differential attraction of Venezuelan Anophelines to human collectors.
نویسنده
چکیده
During a longitudinal study on vector biology and malaria transmission in western Venezuela the degree of attraction of mosquitoes to 4 people who carried out landing catches was evaluated. An analysis of variance of the log(x + 1)-transformed data showed that there were no significant differences in attractiveness of various individuals to Anopheles nuneztovari, Anopheles marajoara, or Anopheles triannulatus.

VECTOR-BORNE DISEASES, SURVEILLANCE, PREVENTION Seasonal Distribution, Biology, and Human Attraction Patterns of Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) in a Rural Village and Adjacent Forested Site Near Iquitos, Peru
This study was conducted as part of a Þeld-ecology study of arboviral and malarial activity in the Amazon Basin, Loreto Department, Peru, to determine the relative abundance, species diversity, and seasonal and vertical distributions of potential mosquito vectors. Mosquitoes were captured either by volunteers using mouth aspirators while mosquitoes attempted to land on the collectors or in dry ...
متن کاملDevelopment of the BG-Malaria trap as an alternative to human-landing catches for the capture of Anopheles darlingi
Although the human-landing catch (HLC) method is the most effective for collecting anthropophilic anophelines, it has been increasingly abandoned, primarily for ethical considerations. The objective of the present study was to develop a new trap for the collection of Anopheles darlingi . The initial trials were conducted using the BG-Sentinel trap as a standard for further trap development base...

Organizations may attract human capital to fill pivotal positions in two ways, namely internal attraction and external attraction. Applying internal recruitment, organizations attract idiosyncratic human capital. Idiosyncratic human capital is exclusively unique to the organization and is defined with such criteria as long experience and internship (intra-organizational training). Yet, by exter...
متن کاملIs there an efficient trap or collection method for sampling Anopheles darlingi and other malaria vectors that can describe the essential parameters affecting transmission dynamics as effectively as human landing catches? - A Review
Distribution, abundance, feeding behaviour, host preference, parity status and human-biting and infection rates are among the medical entomological parameters evaluated when determining the vector capacity of mosquito species. To evaluate these parameters, mosquitoes must be collected using an appropriate method. Malaria is primarily transmitted by anthropophilic and synanthropic anophelines. T...
متن کاملElectromechanical Performance of NEMS Actuator Fabricated from Nanowire under quantum vacuum fluctuations using GDQ and MVIM
The Casimir attraction can significantly interfere the physical response of nanoactuators. The intensity of the Casimir force depends on the geometries of interacting bodies. The present paper is dedicated to model the influence of the Casimir attraction on the electrostatic stability of nanoactuators made of cylindrical conductive nanowire/nanotube. An asymptotic solution, based on path-integr...
