Closed reduction with intramedullary fixation for midclavicular fractures.

چکیده
Clavicular fractures account for approximately 4% of all fractures, and 80% occur in the middle third.1,2 Surgery is rarely indicated except for neurovascular compromise, skin compromise, multiple injuries, and open fractures. Various modes of treatment have been proposed, but are associated with complications.3 Increased nonunion rate and unaesthetic scar were the most important factors resulting in poor satisfaction. This article describes a technique using closed reduction and percutaneous intramedullary fixation for midclavicular fractures.

Elastic stable intramedullary nailing of midclavicular fractures in athletes.
BACKGROUND Intramedullary fixation of midclavicular fractures may be a better option than non-operative treatment for high performance/professional athletes because of the potential reduction in recovery time. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effectiveness of intramedullary fixation in high performance athletes and the time required to return to sporting activity. METHODS Data were taken from a p...
متن کاملComplications and technical pitfalls of titanium elastic nail fixation for midclavicular fractures.
Intramedullary titanium elastic nails have been reported to fix displaced midclavicular fractures with excellent functional outcomes and minor complications. This study reports and analyzes the complications and technical pitfalls associated with titanium elastic nail fixation of displaced midclavicular fractures and describes how to prevent these problems. The authors operated on 27 patients (...
متن کاملThe use of combined 3.5 LCP unicortical plate and nail fixation in proximal tibia fractures and prevention of valgus and anterior angulation
Introduction: Intramedullary nailing (IMN) of high tibia fracture has some mechanical and biological advantages over the other form of fixation. However, valgus, apex anterior malalignment and anterior displacement of proximal fragment commonly occur after isolated IMN fixation of proximal high tibia fracture. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of using 3.5-mm locking c...
متن کاملInjuries Associated with Femoral Shaft Fractures with Special Emphasis on Occult Injuries
Background: Fractures of the femoral shaft are mostly the result of high-energy accidents that also cause multiple trauma injuries, in particular ipsilateral knee and hip injuries. The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence of injuries associated with femoral shaft fractures and how many of them were undetected. Methods: We studied 148 patients (150 femoral shaft fractures) wi...
متن کاملTreatment Outcome of Intramedullary Fixation with a Locked Rigid Nail in Humeral Shaft Fractures
Background: The aim of this study was to determine the treatment outcome of humeral shaft fractures with a locked rigid intramedullary nail in patients indicated for surgical treatment. Methods: In this descriptive-cross sectional study, all patients were followed up for one, six, and 18 months post operatively. The Short Form Questionnaire (SF-36) and Constant Shoulder Score were applied. Re...
