چکیده

Consider two exchangeable sequences (Xk)k2N and (X̂k)k2N with the property that Sn P n k=1 Xk and Ŝn P n k=1 X̂k have the same distribution for all n 2 N. David Aldous posed the following question. Does this imply that the two exchangeable sequences have the same joint distributions? We give an example that shows the answer to Aldous' question is, in general, in the negative. On the other hand, we show that the joint distributions of an exchangeable sequence can be recovered from the distributions of its partial sums if the sequence is a countable mixture of i.i.d. sequences that are either nonnegative or have nite moment generating functions in some common neighbourhood of zero.

The Almost Sure Local Central Limit Theorem for the Product of Partial Sums

We derive under some regular conditions an almost sure local central limit theorem for the product of partial sums of a sequence of independent identically distributed positive random variables.

Variance-Mean Mixtures As Asymptotic Approximations

We present a general transfer theorem for random sequences with independent random indexes in the double array limit setting. We also prove its partial inverse providing necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of randomly indexed random sequences. Special attention is paid to the cases of random sums of independent not necessarily identically distributed random variables and sta...

Large Deviations for Partial Sums U-processes in Dependent Cases

The large deviation principle (LDP) is known to hold for partial sums U{processes of real-valued kernel functions of i.i.d. random variables X i. We prove an LDP when the X i are independent but not identically distributed or fullll some Markov dependence or mixing conditions. Moreover we give a general condition which suuces for the LDP to carry over from the partial sums empirical processes L...

Stein’s Method for Dependent Random Variables Occurring in Statistical Mechanics

We obtain rates of convergence in limit theorems of partial sums Sn for certain sequences of dependent, identically distributed random variables, which arise naturally in statistical mechanics, in particular, in the context of the Curie-Weiss models. Under appropriate assumptions there exists a real number α, a positive real number μ, and a positive integer k such that (Sn − nα)/n converges wea...

Comparison of Sums of Independent Identically Distributed Random Variables

Let Sk be the k-th partial sum of Banach space valued independent identically distributed random variables. In this paper, we compare the tail distribution of ‖Sk‖ with that of ‖Sj‖, and deduce some tail distribution maximal inequalities. The main result of this paper was inspired by the inequality from [dP–M] that says that Pr(‖X1‖ > t) ≤ 5 Pr(‖X1 +X2‖ > t/2) whenever X1 and X2 are independent...
