Optimal Location of Piezoelectric Sensor and Actuator for Flexible Structures

چکیده
Smart material technology has become an area of increasing interest for the development of lighter and stronger structures, which are able to incorporate sensor and actuator capabilities for collocated control. However, to obtain the optimized control performance, the actuators must be placed at locations to excite the desired modes most effectively. In this work a plate with bonded piezoelectric elements will be modeled by Finite Element Method using MATLAB. The approach proposed for the design consists in the determination of H∞ norm of each sensor/actuator candidate position for selected modes of the plate. The H∞ norm will be computed using linear matrix inequalities techniques. The paper concludes with an experimental application in a plate. The results were compared with those supplied by the ANSYS program.

متن کاملActive Vibration Suppression of a Nonlinear Flexible Spacecraft
In this article, the issue of attitude control and active vibration suppression of a nonlinear flexible spacecraft is assessed through piezoelectric patches as actuator and sensors. Two controller loops are applied: the inner loop, to make the panel vibration damped through piezoelectric patches; and the outer loop, to perform spacecraft maneuver using the reaction wheel acting on the hub. An o...
متن کاملOptimal placement of sensors and actuators for active vibration reduction of a flexible structure using a genetic algorithm based on modified Hinfinity
This paper is concerned with active vibration reduction of a square isotropic plate, mounted rigidly along one edge to form a cantilever. Optimal placement of ten piezoelectric sensor/actuator pairs is investigated using a genetic algorithm to suppress the first six modes of vibration. A new objective function is developed based on modified Hinfinity to locate the sensor/actuator pairs. The pla...

The main objective of this study is to reduce optimal vibration suppression of Timoshenko beam under non-periodic step and impulse inputs. Cantilever beam was modeled by Timoshenko theory and finite element numerical method. Stiffness (K), mass (M), and damping (C) matrices are extracted. Then, in order to control structure vibration, piezoelectric patches were used due to simultaneous dual beh...
