چکیده

Background CMR is the imaging modality of choice to quantify myocardial injury in studies of cardioprotection. Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC), using transient limb ischemia and reperfusion, is a novel therapeutic intervention, which can protect the heart against acute ischemiareperfusion injury (IRI). Whether RIC can reduce myocardial infarct (MI) size, and improve myocardial salvage in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients treated by primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI), is unknown, and was investigated in this randomized control clinical trial using CMR.

Myocardium at risk quantified by contrast enhanced steady-state free precession does not differ in extent or severity when comparing patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated with standard reperfusion or postconditioning

Background Accurate quantification of the ischemic myocardium at risk (MaR) in patients with STelevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is paramount in studies of therapies seeking to reduce infarct size expressed as percent of MaR. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is an important clinical research tool for determination of MaR and infarct size in the same examination within one week after STEMI...

Remote ischemic conditioning reduces myocardial infarct size and edema in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.

OBJECTIVES This study aimed to determine whether remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) initiated prior to primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) could reduce myocardial infarct (MI) size in patients presenting with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. BACKGROUND RIC, using transient limb ischemia and reperfusion, can protect the heart against acute ischemia-reperfusion injury. ...

Remote ischemic postconditioning during percutaneous coronary interventions: remote ischemic postconditioning-percutaneous coronary intervention randomized trial.

BACKGROUND Remote ischemic preconditioning may result in reduction in infarct size during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). It is unclear whether remote ischemic postconditioning (RIPost) will reduce the incidence of myocardial injury after PCI, and whether ischemic conditioning of a larger remote organ (thigh versus arm) would provide further myocardial protection. METHODS AND RESULT...

CLINICAL TRACK Randomized Phase 2 Trial of Intra-Coronary Nitrite During Acute Myocardial Infarction

In November, 2014, the average time from submission to first decision for all original research papers submitted to Circulation Research was 13.96 days. ABSTRACT Rationale: Pre-clinical evidence demonstrates that inorganic nitrite, following its in situ conversion to nitric oxide, attenuates consequent myocardial reperfusion injury. Objective: We investigated whether intra-coronary injection of...

Effect of Ischemic Postconditioning on Infarct Size in Patients With ST‐Elevation Myocardial Infarction Treated by Primary PCI Results of the POSTEMI (POstconditioning in ST‐Elevation Myocardial Infarction) Randomized Trial

BACKGROUND Reduction of infarct size by ischemic postconditioning (IPost) has been reported in smaller proof-of-concept clinical studies, but has not been confirmed in other smaller studies. The principle needs to be evaluated in larger groups of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients before being implemented in clinical practice. This study assessed the effect of ischemic postcodi...
