چکیده

No Kerr-like exact solution has yet been found in Chern-Simons modified gravity. Intrigued by this absence, we study stationary and axisymmetric metrics that could represent the exterior field of spinning black holes. For the standard choice of the background scalar, the modified field equations decouple into the Einstein equations and additional constraints. These constraints eliminate essentially all solutions except for Schwarzschild. For noncanonical choices of the background scalar, we find several exact solutions of the modified field equations, including mathematical black holes and pp-waves. We show that the ultrarelativistically boosted Kerr metric can satisfy the modified field equations, and we argue that physical spinning black holes may exist in Chern-Simons modified gravity only if the metric breaks stationarity, axisymmetry, or energy-momentum conservation.

Towards black hole scattering

We study black holes in three-dimensional Chern-Simons gravity with a negative cosmological constant. In particular, we identify how the Chern-Simons interactions between a scattering particle and a black hole project the particle wavefunction onto a wavefunction in the black hole background. We also analyze the set of space-times that should be allowed in the theory and the way in which bounda...

Higher dimensional Chern-Simons theories and topological black holes

It has been recently pointed out that black holes of constant curvature with a “chronological singularity” can be constructed in any spacetime dimension. These black holes share many common properties with the 2+1 black hole. In this contribution we give a brief summary of these new black holes and consider them as solutions of a Chern-Simons gravity theory. We also provide a brief introduction...

We try to give hereafter an answer to some open questions about the definition of conserved quantities in Chern-Simons theory, with particular reference to Chern-Simons AdS3 Gravity. Our attention is focused on the problem of global covariance and gauge invariance of the variation of Noether charges. A theory which satisfies the principle of covariance on each step of its construction is develo...

Aspects of black hole quantum mechanics and thermodynamics in 2+1 dimensions.

We discuss the quantum mechanics and thermodynamics of the (2+1)dimensional black hole, using both minisuperspace methods and exact results from Chern-Simons theory. In particular, we evaluate the first quantum correction to the black hole entropy. We show that the dynamical variables of the black hole arise from the possibility of a deficit angle at the (Euclidean) horizon, and briefly specula...

Hypersymmetry bounds and three-dimensional higher-spin black holes

Abstract: We investigate the hypersymmetry bounds on the higher spin black hole parameters that follow from the asymptotic symmetry superalgebra in higher-spin anti-de Sitter gravity in three spacetime dimensions. We consider anti-de Sitter hypergravity for which the analysis is most transparent. This is a osp(1|4)⊕ osp(1|4) Chern-Simons theory which contains, besides a spin-2 field, a spin-4 f...
