Spiral CT of an orbital venous malformation.

چکیده
Although spiral computed tomography (CT) has certain advantages in other anatomic sites, particularly the thorax (1), abdomen (2, 3), and larynx (4), its advantages over conventional CT imaging in the orbit have been shown in only several clinical scenarios. Use of spiral CT in pediatric craniocervical imaging has been reported recently, with the advantages of shorter scanning time, less motion artifact, and the need for less sedation and intravenous contrast material (5). In addition, we have used spiral CT in cases of severe orbital trauma in which the patient was either unconscious or wearing a cervical collar, in order to minimize the time needed for a complete scan and obtain acceptable coronal reformatting from direct axial imaging. The patient we describe here presented with clinical characteristics for which spiral CT could be optimally used to maximize the radiographic appearance of an orbital venous malformation.

Navigation-assisted sclerotherapy of orbital venolymphatic malformation: a new guidance technique for percutaneous treatment of low-flow vascular malformations.
Percutaneous sclerotherapy of orbital low-flow vascular malformations requires precise procedural guidance. For the treatment of a patient with an orbital venolymphatic malformation, we sought to optimize guidance by combining navigation assistance for needle placement with intralesional contrast medium injection for assessment of venous drainage. By using a surgical navigation system (Vector V...
متن کاملManeuver to aid diagnosis of orbital varix by computed tomography.
The congenital orbital varix is a form of venous malformation of the orbit resulting in intermittent proptosis in a child, adolescent, or young adult [1, 2]. Vision is seldom affected, although attempts at surgical removal may alter vision [3]. Skull films may demonstrate orbital enlargement or phleboliths within the orbit [4]. Orbital venography and carotid angiography have previously proved u...

A 4 yr old male child came to our OPD with swelling over the left side of the face and forehead, gradually increasing in size, showing rapid growth over the past few days. There was h/o fever and difficulty in seeing. On examination, there was a 10 x 10 cm swelling involving the left face, left side of the cheek, left eye and forehead. The swelling was soft and compressible and no lymphnode was...
متن کاملUse of CT angiography for anatomic localization of arteriovenous malformation Nidal components.
We report a case of diffuse arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in basal ganglia and an internal capsule associated with venous aneurysms. The patient was treated by embolization guided by CT angiography to target the basal ganglionic portion of the AVM while sparing the internal capsule. Our case demonstrates that it is possible to obtain good quality intranidal angiograms by using CT angiography...

OBJECTIVES To prospectively evaluate the diagnostic value and radiation dose of time-resolved CT-Angiography (4D-CTA) in pediatric patients with venous malformations using 3rd generation dual-source CT (DSCT) at 70 kVp tube voltage. METHODS Between November 2014 and August 2015, seven children (2 male, 5 female; median age, 9 years; range 3-12 years) with suspected peripheral, non-cerebral, v...
