Effective electrode positions and stimulation patterns for head EIT

چکیده
The objective of this study is to find an effective stimulation and measurement strategy to improve distinguishability for head EIT. To better understand the relationship between distinguishability and various strategies (stimulation/measurement patterns) for a set of electrodes, we evaluated a realistic head model and a range of common strategies.

Optimized electrode positions and stimulation patterns in head EIT
Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) has potential for imaging of the head to image cerebral edema and stroke, and to assist the EEG inverse problem. One key challenge is the low distinguishability of head EIT. In this paper, we develop a strategy to improve distinguishability by optimizing electrode configurations and stimulation and measurement patterns. In a hemispherical simulation phantom...
متن کاملElectrode positions and current patterns for 3D EIT
For a 3D electrical impedance tomography (EIT) system, it is necessary to improve electrode geometries placed around a body surface, and correspondingly apply stimulation and measurement patterns to produce maximum distinguishability. Advanced EIT image reconstruction requires designing systems with the electrode geometry and current injection such that the full ensemble of measurements provide...

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a promising medical imaging technique which could aid differentiation of haemorrhagic from ischaemic stroke in an ambulance. One challenge in EIT is the ill-posed nature of the image reconstruction, i.e., that small measurement or modelling errors can result in large image artefacts. It is therefore important that reconstruction algorithms are improved w...
متن کاملInfluence of different electrode belt positions on electrical impedance tomography imaging of regional ventilation: a prospective observational study
BACKGROUND Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a non-invasive bedside tool which allows an individualized ventilator strategy by monitoring tidal ventilation and lung aeration. EIT can be performed at different cranio-caudal thoracic levels, but data are missing about the optimal belt position. The main goal of this prospective observational study was to evaluate the impact of different el...

The differentiation of haemorrhagic from ischaemic stroke using electrical impedance tomography (EIT) requires measurements at multiple frequencies, since the general lack of healthy measurements on the same patient excludes time-difference imaging methods. It has previously been shown that the inaccurate modelling of electrodes constitutes one of the largest sources of image artefacts in non-l...
