چکیده

The successful realization of a Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) requires innovative solutions to meet the energy consumption budget of the autonomous sensor nodes. The radio interface is a major challenge, since its power consumption must be reduced below 100μW (energy scavenging limit). The emerging Ultra-WideBand (UWB) technology shows strong advantages in reaching this target. First, most of the complexity of an UWB system is in the receiver, which is a perfect scenario in the WBAN context. Second, the very little hardware complexity of an UWB transmitter offers the potential for low-cost and highly integrated solutions. Finally, in a pulse-based UWB scheme, the transmitter can be duty-cycled at the pulse rate, thereby reducing the baseline power consumption. We present a low-power UWB transmitter that can be fully integrated in standard CMOS technology. Measured performances of the pulse generator are provided, showing the potential of UWB for low power and low cost implementations.

Analysis the Performance of Transceiver Circuits for Pulse Based Ultra Wideband

Ultra-wideband is a technology that can be use at very low energy levels for short-range high bandwidth communications by using a large portion of the radio spectrum. In this paper we is specifically focused on the performance of software radio transceiver design for impulse-based UWB with the ability to transmit a raw data rate of 100 Mbps yet encompasses the adaptability of a reconfigurable d...

Thesis: Ultra-Wideband Channel Model for Intra-Vehicular Wireless Sensor Networks

Intra-vehicular wireless sensor networks is a promising new research area that can provide part cost, assembly, maintenance savings and fuel efficiency through the elimination of the wires, and enable new sensor technologies to be integrated into vehicles, which would otherwise be impossible using wired means, such as Intelligent Tire. The most suitable technology that can meet high reliability...

Dual band Wireless Sensor Network with Reduced Routing Overhead

— Wireless sensor networks have been widely used in health care monitoring systems. With improved technologies in health care monitoring, the demand for high data rate transmission has also increased. Ultra wideband (UWB) is a short range wireless physical layer technology which is used to achieve high data rates in wireless sensor networks, without compromising the power consumption limits. Th...

A Markov Model for Indoor Ultra-wideband Channel with People Shadowing

For an indoor ultra-wideband (UWB) communication system, the line-of-sight (LOS) between the transmitter and receiver may be frequently blocked by moving people. Blocking of LOS may significantly affect the quality of service of on-going UWB communications. Based on the Angular Power Spectrum Density and the human blocking models, we build a packet-level UWB channel model considering the shadow...

Adaptive space-time-frequency-coded UWB system for wireless body area network

Wireless body area networks (WBAN) emerge as one of the main research streams for future wireless communications. One of the candidates for the WBAN physical layer is multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing ultra-wideband (MB-OFDM UWB) technology. However, despite its high data rate feature, it performs poorly in the very dispersive WBAN channel. To improve its performance, this pa...
