چکیده
Nanotechnology is defined as the design of products that interact with biological systems on the nanoscopic scale. Creating a controlled nanotexture and understanding the ways in which surface properties impact inflammatory response is of the utmost significance in designing implants that can provide satisfactory outcomes.

Impact of Silicone gel breast prosthesis on photon beam therapy of recurrence carcinoma post mastectomy
AbstractIntroduction Silicone gel breast implants are used for breast reconstruction post mastectomy. In the event of cancer recurrence, the radiation oncologists are forced to irradiate through the prosthesis device. Due to prosthesis higher atomic number dose perturbations occur during treatment. This study determined the influence of silicone gel thickness on the photon beam distribution. Ma...
متن کاملThe Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implant Controversy: Testing the Bounds of Regulatory Intervention
Silicone gel-filled breast implants were first introduced in the United States in the 1960s and immediately gained popularity among women seeking to augment or reconstruct their breasts. However, although the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had the authority to regulate medical devices since the 1970s, breast implants were largely unregulated until concerns about a link between the devices a...

47S Before 1963, implants of any type were rarely used to augment the breast. Cronin and Gerow introduced a first-generation breast implant, and since these were brought to market, many iterations of the original product have been developed.1 From January 1992 to November 2006, the use of silicone implants was highly restricted and not available to first-time and nonreconstructive patients.2 Ma...
متن کاملSilicone breast implant materials.
This opinion article has been written on request because of the recent public controversy over silicone breast implants produced by a now-defunct company, Poly Implant Prosthese (PIP) in France. More than 300,000 PIP devices have been implanted. The purposes of my article are to (1.) provide a general overview of silicone breast implant materials, (2.) to describe the general safety of these ma...

In 1992, the FDA decided that silicone gel-filled breast implants would be available only through controlled clinical studies, despite the fact that they had been used for mammoplasty in millions of women around the world for more than 30 years. The safety of silicone breast implants had been called into question after several reports of a possible association between the implants and the subse...
